Sources: 49ers and Crabtree agree to deal
After months of holding out, wide receiver Michael Crabtree has agreed to a contract with the San Francisco 49ers, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Crabtree will get a six-year deal that he can void to five years if he meets undefined performance clauses, a league source told ESPN's Michael Smith.

The 22-year-old Crabtree is expected to report to the team's training facility Wednesday.

I was actually sort of hoping they might trade the guy...but I'll take it.

1. It doesn't say
If the contract has changed, whether it's the same, more or less. I wonder if the 49ers offered less money and Crabtree jumped on it knowing his value which will decrease by next year's draft. Or if it was the same amount for the same reason. Or if the 49ers caved and offered more money which Crabtree took.

Anyways if Crabtree can perform like Harvin, Caldwell, Britt, it's good news for the 49ers and bad news for the Cardinals. :scared:

2. Interesting
that after all these months, it suddenly got done this quickly. That would lead one to conclude that one side gave in.

Either way, Crabtree will be a welcome addition to the 49er offense. The 49ers are 27th in the league in passing yards and Shaun Hill's top receiver is the tight end.

The big question is when will Crabtree play?

3. I think Crabtree realized he has a chance to play to a good team and win
or he gets drafted by a crappy team like the Rams next year.

4. I forget to add - or did Crabtree sign because the team is 3-1?
I did consider that but I figured it's too early in the season for that to be factor.

5. he has finally come to his senses
My bet is that tampering allegations really got Deion Sanders and Eugene Parker nervous so they were basically forced to sign

7. Crabtree tampering case will proceed
Crabtree tampering case will proceed

Despite the fact that the 49ers have signed receiver Michael Crabtree and the fact that the Jets have traded for a receiver not named Michael Crabtree, a league source tells us that the tampering allegations made by the 49ers against the Jets will not be withdrawn.

Though there's a sense that, in the end, the 49ers won't be able to muster enough evidence to persuade the NFL to make an example out of the Jets, we're told that the matter won't simply be closed because Crabtree is now under contract.

Meanwhile, there's some speculation in league circles that Deion Sanders might have pushed Crabtree and agent Eugene Parker toward getting something done with the 49ers in the hopes that it will insulate Deion from having to choose whether to cooperate with the investigation or risk a potentially negative impact to his employment with NFL Network.

8. The dope has missed so much critical time he won't be a factor until next year.
This was one of the dumbest holdouts ever. Dude is going to be a player though.
