Seahawks' Schmitt splits forehead ... in warm-ups (with video!)

Seattle Seahawks fullback Owen Schmitt is a bit of a wild man ... and it showed Sunday when he split his forehead open after intentionally hitting himself several times with his helmet while trying to fire up the crowd when his named was called in pregame player introductions.

Owen SchmittSchmitt had blood covering his entire face and dripping down on his jersey as he gathered with teammates for their pregame huddle, then headed to the sideline and was attended by team trainers during the national anthem.

The blood-smeared face drew some curious looks from teammates and coaches, but the trainers quickly patched his forehead and washed the blood off his uniform.

Probably not the smartest move given the Seahawks only have one healthy fullback with Justin Griffith on the inactive list.

1. Kind of like when Gus Frerotte head butted the cement wall after scoring a touchdown.
