Why a DUer REALLY hates the Yankees...a quasi-political analogy/opinion piece(rant):
Yeah, I'm from Philly and we're supposed to hate them I guess, since they beat us in the World Series 59 fucking years ago, a couple years before an old fart like me was even born, but that's not why I despise them...and have ALWAYS despised them.

The reason is that they are just so fucking smug...like the Wall Street Smegma-laden motherfuckers who stole trillions from the much-vaunted 'system' "legally" and then protest that their rights as venture capitalists as it were, are being abrogated by putting them on a strict allowance and then have the abject TEMERITY to equate themselves with the little guy who is subject to Federal Control.

I have nothing against players being paid whatever they can get from the billionaire sociopaths who own the teams...my own favorite team is controlled by people whose names are utterly unknown in the Philly market and we know everyone. These folks have stayed relatively anonymous over the years. No, it's not that...it's that these guys leave teams which can't/won't pay them this kind of money and then act as though the teams which they left were lower than whale-shit, and that the great New York Yankees, who have none other than Rudy G. and his latest wife sitting in the most prominent box in the TV landscape, are the Mecca of baseball, culture, civilization, and not just deserving of a title, but that the rest of the world is obligated to hand it over to them. And quickly.

In this endeavor, they have entrapped the MSM, long a bunch of wannabe prick-athletes, into shilling for Yankees and all the players therefrom are undoubtedly heading for Cooperstown and that of course, they wouldn't BE a Yankee unless they were the BEST. It's like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast..."Don't I deserve the BEST?" This propaganda is self-fulfilling and quite frankly, fucking ridiculous on its face. Since the MSM definition of success is playing in NY for the Yankees, then anyone who doesn't is, by definition, second-rate. This shit gets into the brains of these talented but quite impressionable players and of course, their whore-agents support this agenda wholeheartedly. So they spend their entire careers surreptitiously trying to get signed by this bunch of world-class shitheads.

Now you might say that I'm on this tirade because my beloved Phillies got beaten badly tonight by these representatives of this fascist organization, but let me tell you that we in Philadelphia are not alone. This Series isn't over...not by a long shot and as the great lady once said, "Tomorrow is another day."

Now before you move this over to Sports dungeon, realize that this is emblematic and symptomatic of what is wrong with our political system and the MSM...it's a sell-job and the same technic as they use to try to convince everyone that President Obama is unpopular, a failure, and dropping like a stone in the polls. It's all bullshit all the time - this is an example of the use of the MSM and even the Internet to establish a contrarian thought style in the whole US. Anyone listening to the morans at TBS or worse, FOX, who have been selling the Yankees for the entire post-season as the team of destiny. Even the umpires believe it...

So this rant is nearly over...during the rain delay before the game, before they switched to an animated FOX TV show to take up the time becausetheseidjitsdon'tknowenooughabouttheteamstotalkfor30minutes, there was what I would call a tribute to the Yankees: they showed the last half-inning of the 2nd game where they beat the Phillies two days ago. WTF???!!!! I mean, WTF??????? in 52 years of watching baseball, I have never ever seen that done. the RWers want to talk indoctrination? that kind of crap is real indoctrination...you best better love our Yankees or get off the bus. There was little mention of the other team which was playing them in the Series...and BTW, i noticed this in their series against the LA Angels: the only time they showed the Angels doing anything was when they were committing an error or striking out. if you see that continuously, you begin to believe that the other team is just so much better and deserving of every break including bad/missed/fucked-up umpiring, which was SO BAD THAT EVEN THE LEAGUE HAD TO APOLOGIZE. Sort of.

Screw the fascists, screw the media. oh and BTW, just so you know that I'm not a complete homer asshole from philly, I will say that our Cole Hamels, like many Rethugs, believed his own press clippings and like Rocky Balboa in Rocky III, got soft while he made commercials and the like. He lost his edge and he's done done done...the media got a hold of him and convinced him that he was a handsome 25 year old star. Let's see how many commercials he is asked to make with an ERA of 8...

Meanwhile...Go Phillies!!!

i apologize for my language and my anger...but whattya want? I'm a DUer from Philly....that means I have 2 strikes against me from the get-go as far as the country-as-a-whole is concerned.

6. I've always thought of rhe Yankees as the Repiblucan team,
a well-funded, well-oiled, and arrogant machine. Nothing against the individual players, though I do not like A-Rod. Jeter seems like a good guy. But the team represents big money and entrenched power, from my point of view.

For now, I am a Giants fan on loan to The Phillies. We can still win this!

7. The Yankees rule!!
I hope that your post was one out of frustration and not serious. The Yankees are a great franchise and I love being one of their fans. I've loved the Bronx Bombers ever since Reggie Jackson became Mr. October and beat the Dodgers for the World Series back in the 70s. I wasn't born yet, but I would have been cheering on Mr. Coffee, Joltin' Joe, and the Mick and the rest of the Champs when they played.

The Phillies are a heck-of-a team, too, and are a great team to represent the best that the NL has to offer.

The Yankees are up 2-1 and I hope CC takes another one tomorrow night. I am sure that the Phillies will win one at home, so that will allow the Yankees to break in the new Yankee Stadium in right by winning the World Series at home.

Take care and may the best team win!

9. Actually, MSM spends most of its time pandering to Yankee haters...
in order to keep their interest engaged in their broadcasts. Spend some time watching coverage of a Yankee game on Fox during the regular season. They don't need to pander to Yankee fans. Along with the Red Sox, the Yankees bring in the highest on-the-road ticket sales for the other teams; in some towns, like Baltimore, it's because NY fans travel to see them play and in other towns, it's because people hope to see them lose.

The 2008 World Series, which featured the Phillies & the Tampa Bay No-longer-devilish Rays, was the lowest rated, least watched Series of all time.
http://tvbythenumbers.com/2008/10/30/2008-world-series-lowest-rated-least-watched-series-ever/7264

Is Fox deliriously happy that the Yankees are back in the World Series? Sure. If you were a sports broadcasting network exec, wouldn't you be? (Dodgers/Yankees would have put them into orgasms.)

And you do follow baseball, right? When the team with the best record in the Majors goes into the playoffs, with home field advantage as far as they get, they generally are the favorites at the start of the post season.

The Phillies lost tonight. Use your hankey for its more intended purpose rather than insisting that a GAME is a metaphor for what is wrong with the U.S. If the Phillies win the Series, we Yankee fans will tough it out and then start discussing whom Hank and Hal will buy us for Christmas this year. :>

10. Doesn't almost everyone hate the Yankees?
except for some residents of NYC without the sense to be Mets fans and the sort of sycophants who will jump on the bandwagon of any team that keeps winning (or threatening to win)?

But Philly won last year, so they are perhaps trying to start a dynasty too. My brother and his wife were actually rooting for the Dodgers because they did not want to see Philly repeat.

Way back in the 1970s we were on vacation during the series (I am not sure how that was possible since school starts well before October). We were driving through Chicago and not hearing sports scores on the radio of last night's game of the Dodgers vs. the Yankees game 2. So we made a sign to ask the other drivers. The sign said "honk if the Dodgers won the second game". After a few minutes there were a number of other drivers honking and waving. Giving us the good news and also seemingly happy to see the Yankees lose.

Of course, that story has a sad ending because even though the Yankees went down 0-2 to the Dodgers, they still came back to win that Series, just like the year before.

Settle your gripes on the field! Forever and a day, there were/are baseball owners who care not about winning, but about making a nice little profit. The New York Fucking Yankees care about ONE THING.....Winning World Series. Until you get your owners to understand that concept, stop your fucking crying and play baseball with an economized lineup. Yankee Stadium is the grandest stage in all of sports. It didn't happen overnight. It was built upon decades of ownership wanting to win. Now all you whiny assed crybabies want some of it on the cheap without paying your dues. Quit your crying and bring it on! Get your guys to beat my guys.

14. PCIntern It isn't "Smugness" It's called 'Class"
And the Phillies ought to try it sometime...instead of being gracious when they won last year, they took the opportunity to bash the NY Mets. And you talk about "smugness"? That to me showed no class whatsoever.

I'm a Yankee fan & a Du'er, we are both from "Blue states" so to try and tie our team, the NY Yankees, & our whole state as being in bed with the "Wall Street" crowd,& "republicans", maybe you ought to stop..and take a look at your own politicans, and your Own Stadium....named after a Bank, for Christ Sakes. You know those Banks that took Our Hard Earned Money for their "Bail Outs"?

I personally can't stand Rudy Guilliani, a lot of Ny'er can't. After 9/11 there was no one to look to...bush was too busy hiding. So Rudy filled that spot& people developed an attachment to him. But we all came to learn what a publicity whore he truly is, and that attachment faded. NY said NO when he wanted to cancel elections so he could keep his position. And while it's no accident Rudy is now showing up at Yankee games ( he also rooted for the Red Sox when it was presidential primary season) it's known he wants to run for governor. Let him try..Andrew Cuomo is already beating him in the polls. I have utter disrespect & disgust for any politican that exploits 9/11.

I'm sorry, but sports are sports & politics are politics, to try and tie them together is ludicrous. There are plenty of Yankee & Phillies fans who are both republicans and Democrats. You take the joy out of just watching a game, where no one is going to suffer if one wins and the other doesn't, unlike politics.

And it's ironic you compare the Yankees to "republicans" When in fact the Yankees win more when Democrats are in office. http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2008/10/31/2008-10-31_want_more_yankee_octobers_pull_for_barac.html

Tell you something else, long before money ever entered the picture, the Yankees had great players like Gehrig & Ruth and they made peanuts. And please dont tell me, it's only the Yankees who are paying big bucks for players, do a comparison of what a lot of atheletes are making. Might surprise you. Think Cliff Lee & CC Sabitha would be still be with the Indians, if the Indians would have spent the money? Well they didn't and the Phillies & the Yankees did. So you can stop your whinning. Did you ever play sports as a kid? Ever been on an All Star team? They look for the best players for their line up. And guess what? So do the big leagues. Sorry if that upsets you...but that's life.

I know a lot of people hate the Yankees. They hate them because they have a history of winning alot. But they don't always win, so what's the big deal? I enjoy sports, when someone wins I give them credit. I'm not that insecure.

You know what? Your team lost the night before & tonight...Get Over It. Nothing in written in stone. They may very well come back & win the series. So try and enjoy it for what it is...a game...and stop blaming everything & everyone, when your team loses. You're making yourself miserable, for no good reason.

that makes the Yankees "great" Milwaukee couldn't hold on to CC because they didn't have the money. To me sports winners are determined by the money. So it's easy to support the winner if you follow the money.

And the first game ever played there was a 10-6 loss to the Indians. That's right. The same Cleveland Indians who went 65-97 and finished 21.5 games out of first place.

Fitting beginning for The House That Steinbrenner Built, huh?

41. Classy response.
So they built a new ballpark. Doesn't change what they've accomplished as a franchise. Yankee Stadium is what it is, new or old. It's baseball for dog's sake. The very best teams lose somewhere around 60 games per season. The best hitters get a little more than 3 hits for every 10 at bats. Why do people get real fuckin nasty when it comes to discussing sports teams? I'm sorry I even joined this thread.

If hating the Yanks makes you feel better for your own teams issues, go with it.

But please know this, yours and others hate of the Yankees only fuels my love for them.

30. I hate the Yankees for the same reason I hate the Dallas Cowboys
Actually, I hate more that I'm being sold this "They're America's Team" bullshit. Says who? As you point out, DUIntern, these teams are being shoved down our throats. What's worse is that they also sell the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry the same way. ESPN is as bad as FOX when it comes to this. There are other teams out there, and other rivalries that are at least as interesting. But, you'd never know that when you turn on the TV looking for a ballgame. If you don't want to see the Yankees, you're shit out of luck half the time.

What's worse to me is that they're pulling another version of this shit on my beloved Cubs. Because of this alleged "curse", they've turned being a Cubs fan into the latest trend. I blame their previous owners, the Tribune Corp., for that. It's disgusting. Most of these so-called Cubs fans wouldn't know a baseball if one hit them between the eyes. It's sad to watch how the media has screwed up baseball, football, and every other sport out there. They're doing to it what they've been doing to politics. The fuckers have to ruin everything.

I live in Kansas City and we call The Royals a farm club. Every good player they get eventually leaves to play for a team with a bigger bankroll. It sucks.

And yes, of course I hate The Yankees. They beat The Royals in the playoffs one time too many in the days when The Royals were still competitive.

I'm in Minnesota, and it is not easy for small market teams to compete with the likes of the Yankees. The playoffs are little more than a beauty pageant for teams with payroll. Which is why MLB sucks, and the minors are usually more exciting.

44. Yankees fans
are why i don't like the Yankees. I grew up on LI and nearly every asshole i knew was a Yankees fan. The cooler kids either liked the Mets or didn't follow baseball. That goes with hockey too. Rangers fans = assholes. Islanders fans = people you could hold a conversation with.

(besides Republicans):grr:

50. I have been feeling the same way
I am a DUer from Indianapolis, but I was born and raised in Philly and never turn my back on the Phils. I have been telling people that the Yankees should take the World Series this year, THEY PAID ENOUGH FOR THE FUCKING THING. Let em choke on it. Them. Their fans. The media that licks their asses 24/7 whether they need to or not.

I'm going home from work now. Tonight is the last home game for my baseball team. I need to dress accordingly and get ready, this fucking series isn't over quite yet. Its funny, I never considered myself a New York/Yankee hater until now.

52. How about these fucking announcers? Someone needs to shove a gasoline soaked rag
down Joe Bucks throat and light a match....they seriously never stop fellating these fucking Yankees

But it was the same GODDAMN THING with the Phils-Dodgers series....every time a Dodger got a base hit ( or home run ) it wasn't just a hit...it was a "MAJESTIC" hit!

But....when the Phils get a run, they just "pulled out of a bad situation" or got lucky

I don't share a hatred for the Yankees...to be honest, I don't really follow baseball or it's statistics on players
