1. Lakers
They have 4 Championships from 2000-2009.

I don't follow the NHL so I have no idea if any of them have more.

I guess Jimmy Johnson is good but my vote still goes to the Lakers.

2. I'm a NASCAR fan but not a Jimmy Johnson fan, however
he is "fixing to" win his fourth straight NASCAR championship. So he has beaten 45+ other teams year in and year out and he had a pretty good record earlier in the decade. And NASCAR is a team event. Try changing four tires and filling up with gas in 14 seconds all by yourself.

4. I was really hoping Mark Martin could win the championship this year.
Close, but no cigar. I suppose JJ could crash on the first lap and not finish, but I doubt that.

has had a helluva year for a 50 year old. I can't see Johnson losing this year. Butcha never know.

7. If he wins the championship
this year it would be a great way to go, but as healthy as he is and with his performance this year, no way Hendrick will get rid of him. I think the 5 ride is his for the asking.

Unfortunately I think my "hero" Bobby Labonte is just about at the end of the trail.

the entire decade, including four championships!

8. Remember, the decade started in 2001, just as the new millenium started in
2001...Satan has only one WS title this decade...can't be them, not unless they get another one next year.

9. I don't understand the many votes for the Yankees
Lakers and JJ have more titles. Perhaps the Penguins or Red Wings have more but I don't follow hockey.

even though they have three titles in 2003, 2005, 2007

18. Well Lakers have more success then the Spurs this decade
That explains my vote. If we are to consider less deserving teams maybe it's the Spurs or Patriots(or JJ) when it comes to professional sports.

If it comes to college sports I say Stanford Women's Volleyball. Yeah they just have 2 title but they went to the title game 6 times this decade. Penn St has been absolutely dominant the last couple years especially last year when they were undefeated.

16. Lakers
The Lakers have won five division titles and and three NBA championships since the start of 2001, six and four since 2000.

On paper the Patriots* the best NFL team. They have four Super Bowl appearances with three wins. Frankly, I don't know what's wrong with a team making its own training films, but rules are rules.

I wouldn't pick the Yankees* with all their purchasing power. They've won only one WS in this decade (or two, for those who count the decade as beginning in 2000 rather than 2001) and that after cornering the free agent market. The only team to win more than one WS title since January 1, 2001 is the Boston Red Sox.

19. He's not biased
If it comes to the NBA the Lakers are the team of the decade based on success. I'm not a Lakers fan but I'm reasonable enough to acknowledge their success.

21. M/Md might like this tidbit
When I was in the Army (we're talking Fall of 1978), I was in a weekly football pool with two other barracks rats. One thing all three of us had in common was a hatred of the Dallas Douchebags, I mean Cowboys. Those other two guys would bet against the Cowboys every week and, in spite of the fact they probably both knew more about football than I did, wondered how come I won money every week.

Now ESPN analysts are all over the Big 10 calling it the best conference in college basketball. See ESPN shows the Big 10 love.

(sorry for changing the subject)

It was after the game at a ESPN location.

Anyways North Carolina earned whatever orgasm they get by winning it all. No but what they said is the Big 10 is the best from top to bottom while bashing the Pac 10.

30. I'd say Lakers
New England is the other choice, and would no doubt win a nationwide vote, but IMO the NBA has had decisively higher caliber play and more good teams than the NFL has featured this decade. The Spurs were equivalent to New England's rivalry with the Colts, but better since they have won more titles.

The Lakers have essentially had two eras, Shaq and no-Shaq, and won titles in both. Plus they made it to the Finals twice.

New England has had a walkover division, for the most part.
