MLB players unhappy about ticket tax

"Baseball players are upset about having to pay taxes on the complimentary tickets they often leave for family and friends.

The Internal Revenue Service now requires professional players and coaches to add the value of free tickets to their taxable income, a change from years past. The new system could increase a player's tax bill by more than $11,000 US.

Many players didn't learn about the change until they arrived at spring training, and some have said they will leave fewer complimentary tickets this season. The new policy also applies to other professional sports and has been criticized by Philadelphia 76ers forward Chris Webber.

Part of the problem, according to players and coaches, is the inconvenience of the new system.

2. Now if ..

3. Hmmm...maybe this tax will make the ball players
lobby for lower ticket prices.
