Red Sox batting coach suspended
he was suspended for "excessive arguing" on a pitch that was called a ball by the homeplate umpire during a game with the yankees ...

i watched the game ... the umpires were worse than terrible ... it seems like there have many way too many bad calls this season ...

as a die-hard Yankee fan, i can honestly say the Red Sox batting coach was right ...

later in the game, Red Sox manager Francona was thrown out for arguing a ball-strike call ... he was right too ...

1. That was one of the worst games for umpiring that I've ever seen
The Sox batting coach is a very mild-mannered guy. it had to be really bad for him to get suspended.

2. I remember that game---Randy Johnson was as pissed at the..
inconsistent strike zone as the Red Sox were.
The Home plate ump was Greg Gibson, it seems to me that he's had that problem before.

3. if i remember correctly ...
Womack led off the game and should have been called SAFE but they called him out ... he was well past the Red Sox first baseman when the first baseman tried a sweep tag (the throw was up the baseline) ...

the tag missed Womack by about 3 feet ... they showed it over and over and over on the replay ... the umpire blew it ... i can honestly say it was the worst call i've ever seen an umpire make ...

i think something is rotten with the umps this year ... my point isn't that they're biased; my point is they stink ...

4. There were a lot of bad calls in that game, and yeah, the bad...
calls went both ways.

It was just a crappy umpiring performance, I'm not sure it's any more than an isolated incident.
At least, I hope not.

5. Huh? I saw him argue, seemed like nothing unusual
Saw the game and the umps were about the worst I've ever seen for both sides. The guy just lost his cool after the umptyeigth blown call.
