Is drum corps competition a sport???

I was a member of the CapitalAires, an all girl drum and bugle corps out of Madison..... then the Capital Sound was formed in 1995 as a merger of the Madison Junior Scouts and the Capitolaires.

Capital Sound Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed to field a performing drum & bugle corps.

On April 2nd, 1995, the Madison Junior Scouts and the Madison Scouts held their annual Open House. The Jr. Scouts performed first, followed by the Kilties and then the Madison Scouts. Immediately after the Scouts performance, Scott Stewart announced that the CapitolAires would go inactive for the '95 season, and that the Madison Junior Scouts would absorb the members of the CapitolAires. This new co-ed corps would be under the direction of the Madison Drum & Bugle Corps Association, Inc.

Then in December of 2003, the corps' previous sponsor, the Madison Drum & Bugle Corps Association, announced they would no longer operate the corps. In January 2004, the newly formed Capital Sound Drum & Bugle Corps, Inc., a separate Wisconsin non-profit corporation, reached agreement with the MDBCA to assume the sponsorship and operations of Capital Sound.

I really enjoyed the competition and drum and bugle corps experience.....and I do consider it a sport.....loved it. Anyone else involved in drum corps???

1. I would consider it a competition, not a sport.
