Panda now has better vision!!

If you thought that Pablo Sandoval had a keen batting eye, wait until this season.

It turns out that Sandoval, who hit .330 with 25 home runs last year for the Giants, had diminished vision in his left eye. Sandoval said that this was discovered during an examination last November, though he didn't provide a measurement of his visual acuity.

Sandoval now wears prescription goggles on the field. He started doing this during the Venezuelan Winter League, which might partly explain his dominant performance for Magallanes. In 20 regular-season games, Sandoval hit .395 with a .425 on-base percentage and a .604 slugging percentage. He added five home runs in 11 playoff games.

"I can see the ball better. It's clearer," Sandoval said Friday.

Sandoval has noticed a difference this spring. When he takes batting practice using a machine that spits out colored tennis balls stamped with numbers, the 23-year-old switch-hitter can identify both the number and the color. Previously, Sandoval could distinguish only the color.

"I'm so comfortable," Sandoval said.

Losing weight, correcting his eyesight....Pablo is already the NL's top third baseman, who knows what he can now accomplish with all these improvements..

1. Yeah now he can see the ball better as it's being thrown to him at his
new first base position, which he is being moved to because.......he is the top third baseman in the league..?

:wtf:

2. Pablo is only moving
to first base part time..he'll still see some time at third..The Giants, like the smart tradition rich organization they are, feel it's best to save the wear and tear on Pablo as much as possible. After all, he's one of the best hitters in MLB..

As a Dodger fan, you won't be knowing much about good hitters, or pitchers, in a few years. For apparently McCourt has plans to turn LA into a team with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball.

Have fun!

12. You root for a team
that is known primarily for two things: fire sales and empty seats. So, it comes has little surprise that you would wish to ignore the marvelous tradition of the great Giants organization..

14. I know one thing...
you'll never find the Giants organization thrusting shame and humiliation upon their fans...that which must be endured by all current Pirates fans. For you see, I know there are problems with MLB but at least the Giants TRY TO WIN...I'm not completely convinced that the Pirates are.

16. In other words...
Upton's right. You know as well as I that Nutting and his buddies aren't actually trying to win....they're pocketing all the money they're saving instead. What a damning thing to have said about an organization..and by many of it's own fans no less.

Yeah okay, the Giants haven't won a WS for a long time. It took the Red Sox 86 years..yet nobody ever accused them (except maybe Yankee fans) during that time of not having a great tradition. So it goes with the Giants..

22. Wait a minute here..
it's true Pablo could still stand to lose a few pounds, but I was reading the other day that he's now down to 262....a whole 15 lbs less than the 277 he finished last season at.. It's not easy losing weight when you have Panda's kind of metabolism. So lets give the guy a little bit of credit, huh?

5. Hmm. How many awards did Pablo win last year?
Gold Glove, Silver Slugger? If he was the NL's top third baseman don't you think he would have won SOMETHING? BTW, as for your nonsensical argument that he finished seventh as a MVP, thats only because he was on a team with a winning record. Zimmerman was FAR more valuable to the Nats. The Giants had Lincecum to help them compete.
Everyone who is not a totally biased homer thinks Zimmerman is the best third baseman. Helps that he is much fitter as well.

8. I can see why you don't respect the MVP voting..
that's because the voters didn't agree that Zimmerman was Mr. "FAR more valuable"

7. Pablo..89 points (1 vote for third)

27. Mr. FAR more valuable..2 points (highest vote was for 10th)

http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/story/12565526/

I realize Zimmerman won some awards, but it seems to me that the MVP voters were saying he just didn't do enough to help the Nationals..

10. Nobody votes for an MVP on a last place team duh.
The fact is Zimmerman was far more valuable to his team than Panda was too his. Had LINCECUM not succeeded the Giants would not have been even competitive. Zimmerman on the other hand, probably had a hand in a third of the Nats wins. He was faaar more valuable to his team. Lets face it the MVP vote is more of a popularity contest than anything else.
