1. I realize it's only spring training
but you have to be encouraged with the Giants leading EVERYBODY at 17-7..

2. A lot of ifs...
but yes, I'm encouraged. Huff is key, along with a healthy Freddy Sanchez, Aaron Rowand, and a healthy dose of plate patience all around.

6. I recall one year the Giant kicked ass and took names in spring training
Then the season started. It was no surprise that the Giants fell flat on their faces after that.

What the Giants did during spring training was to play their opening day starting nine against teams looking at their rookies. It was like a major league team playing against a farm team. Of course the Giants won those games.

They finished last that year, which was sometime in the eighties. You remember, when Brad Wellman was at shortstop or second base and Scott Gerrelts out of the bullpen led the leam in victories.

The Giants are a better team than that now, but they're still lacking something to be a post season team.

4. But cboy/upton do not follow Cleveland -- that's a new wrinkle
By the way, did you know Jacob's Field was sold out for 455 straight games?

:D

7. That would create a serious dilemma for the baseball gods
One of them would have to win.

And remember, the baseball gods hate SF enough to have caused the earthquake of 1989. :scared: :sarcasm:
