1. I'm not a big prediction guy
Edited on Tue Apr-06-10 10:34 PM by JonLP24
but I think it will be very tough battle involving ALL the teams. I don't see why Washington can't succeed with their defense, the backs they have, and of course McNabb. Dallas should be favorites but it's not a clear cut favorite. NY Giants should be good as well. Philly is a bit of question mark so I'm not sure how they will do.

EDIT-Though it's too soon to tell for any team. There is draft coming up so that could make some teams.

2. I will say that it has been extremely quiet in Dallas this spring.
Other than signing Austin Miles and release Flozelle Adams, no movement in free agency and nothing about the draft.

Hmm.

3. Washington's defense isnt as good as it seems
Especially their pass defense. There were so many big plays given up by the Skins because of biting on double moves, its not even funny. LaRon Landry is playing the wrong safetly position, and that is part of the problem. The offensive line is still a huge question mark. If they draft Okung, things should improve.

4. Did Shanahan retain the Defensive Coordinator?
It's not always the players -- sometimes it's how they're coached or the D they're instructed to play. It changed in San Francisco when Singletary took over. Same players / new intensity.

5. No, and Jim Haslett is now the D-Coordinator and they will most likely switch to a 3-4
We'll see. I hope a new coordinator will make things better, because though the stats say otherwise, the status quo was incredibly overrated

6. They were in the top 5 most of the year
Edited on Wed Apr-07-10 11:32 AM by JonLP24
They fell back later in the end. You're right though. They finished in the middle to bottom 10 of the league as far as defense is concerned. I was going by memory and they were playing very good defense for the early to mid part of the year, their problem was scoring points. Then teams starting racking up yardage against them in both categories.

O-line I get. I didn't mention it because it gets mentioned here so much especially by madinmaryland I didn't think it was necessary to mention it again. I agree that is a question mark.

7. Shanahan had some good o-lines in Denver
They were "undersized", according to pundits, but made up for it in technique.

8. I agree
Ran a zone blocking scheme effectively on running plays. Often times one cut and gone.

9. The defense has been the Redskins strenght the last couple of years.
Yeah, things fell apart last season towards the end, but I think that had more to do with the coaching situation than anything else.
