Former Kansas State quarterback Dylan Meier dies in hiking accident
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Former Kansas State quarterback Dylan Meier was killed Monday during a hiking trip with family members in the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas.

Meier, a Pittsburg, Kan., native, was a quarterback at K-State from 2002 to 2006.

Newton County, Ark., Sheriff Keith Slape says Meier, 26, was hiking with his family when he slipped and fell near Whitaker Point, also known as Hawksbill Cag in northwestern Arkansas.

Tim Ernst lives in a cabin nearby. He says he was alerted a hiker had fallen and ran quickly to the scene.

“This accident happened sometime around noon,” Ernst wrote in a blog detailing the hours after Meier fell. “I reached Dylan around 1 p.m.”

4. Oh, this is too bad.
I feel sorry for his family, not just that it happened, but it sounds as if a lot of them were there.
