Well, I called and left a message with the Big Ten about their proposed dilution of the brand
Not that it will do any good. I checked on the head of the Big Ten, James Delaney. ACC guy. Figures. Why doesn't he leave our brand alone, and go get a job at one of his razzle-dazzle conferences?

The woman I spoke to was very nice. She put me through to a comment line, and said that their administrative assistants log all the comments. So someoone will see it at least. There's not much more I can do, I guess. The Big Ten, the oldest athletic conference, is about to dilute its brand name.

1. I have come to accept that they will probably add one more team, and if it
is Pitt, I am OK with that. If they add five teams, that will be sheer lunacy, and an invitation for the league to implode itself.

2. It makes me feel physically ill
Pitt is the least of the evils, I suppose. But I feel sad, sick, angry......and powerless.

They don't need the money. They've earned billions. I say, get rid of this Delaney character, and put a Big Ten guy in (or woman).

Bleah.

I think I'll write a letter, too. Why not? At least I'll have done something.

5. I honestly don't know who is pushing more for this expansion, Delaney or this
Condem character!

:D

As I said, Pitt and Penn State are fine with me. To me, it's got to be a team that has the "big ten values", which only Pitt would seem to have.

Tradition left the Big 10 a long time ago if you ask me.

In that case, IIRC, the presidents agreed to let them in, without consulting the ADs.

9. Not sure why the Big Ten (11) feels the need to do this anyway.
They make plenty of money as they are.

It's like they have sort of an inferiority complex with the SEC or Big 12.

LisaM: Yeah, like BC and Wake Forest in the ACC...

I can see adding one school to make it an even twelve. Taking it to sixteen is a bit extreme, imho.

15. You know what the Big Ten Channel made in advertising revenue last year, mad?
66 million dollars. In what? The second year? You people have to realize something. College football is big business. All your romantic notions
of the Big Ten staying inert are fairy tales. There's a lot more green to be had out there. I'm all about expanding the great name of the Big Ten. And that's what Delaney is doing. All this from an ex-Duke BBall player. And your dead wrong, mad. Nebraska has beeen playing Big Ten football since Bob Devaney. Would love to have them!!

Poll people with connections to the Big Ten.

Change is not always good. Big Ten needs to be headed up by someone who's not from the southeast.

Seriously? Okay. I'm dying to know two things. Why would the Maryland AD be run out of town for improving Maryland's financial and athletic standing? And, more importantly, that Maryland would be given one ounce of consideration from the richest league on the block.

contemplate going to the Big Ten.

Maybe the thought that they would lose the so called (by Upton/boy4) East Coast bias financial bias from their east coast donors is why they would never consider moving to the big ten. Just like Rutgers and Princeton would not move either.

Put down the spray-paint can, condem.
