Soccer: Bayern Munich-Inter Milan 0-2 :) European Champions 2010
Edited on Sat May-22-10 05:32 PM by demoleft
"Jose Mourinho wrote his name into the history books as Diego Milito inspired Inter Milan to Champions League glory against Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu.
Milito set Inter on their way against the run of play with a clipped finish.
And he wrapped up a win built on the foundations of a solid defence with a solo effort that saw Inter become the first Italian side to win the Treble.
It means Mourinho, who won the cup with Porto in 2004, becomes the third man in history to win it with two clubs."

1. Say what you will about Mourinho...
He's probably the best coach in all of professional sports. This kind of win, where the other team ends up with all of the possession, and still losing 2-0, is something he's done too often for it to be a coincidence.

A couple of great strikes by Milito helped, of course.

...indeed, he did it in the typical italian soccer style.
mourinho knew that bayern had a weak and slow defense, and the only way to hit was to attract the opponent midfielders forward, to wait for them, then get the ball and strike with the swift classy agility of milito, eto'o, or schnejder.

but what impressed me more in mourinho, me a supporter of inter milan since a child, is his way to motivate and give the team the self-reliance of the champions, something the black/blues have always lacked. with him, there was no problem among the players, no trouble. he punished the restless with a silencer, and gave them a chance when he saw them ready.
he managed the moods of eleven champions (each of the players was/is player in their own national teams) and made them humble, ready to sacrifice for the sake of the team.

i'd give this one the golden ball, really: javier zanetti. great player, great man.
