3. Then again, Don Fabio is starting Heskey
Maybe Heskey and Altidore will crash each other out of the tournament. Who am I kidding, Heskey eats an Altidore-sized plate of eggs for breakfast every day.

15. They have no good options for goal keeper.
And their defense is porous. The US should have been able to make more runs at it than they did.

17. I think that the US
was playing it safe for the most part and the times when they did break off of that strategy they had great opportunitites like donavons lob which altidore just missed heading it in and altidores break away speed play where he hit the crossbar.

11. I know. I can't watch it with the sound on.
Edited on Sat Jun-12-10 03:16 PM by Iggo
They really need to figure out how to filter out that horn sound. I can turn on some metal and watch with the sound off, but I bet a million other casual watchers just change the channel rather than put up with that racket.

(I spel gud)

12. It's an Africa thing.
You don't hear that at most games. Though the Koreans like those slapstick thingies.

13. It's called a Vuvuzela
And it's horrible. It's an African thing, at the opener with the hosts playing it was 80.000 of them inside the stadium. It was absolutely deafening.

It ruins a lot of the experience of a game, because it takes away all the oohs and aahs and spontaneous reactions.

14. Oohs and ahhhs?
Uh, not really. It takes away the great singing and chanting that one experiences in Europe, South America, and is starting to pick up a bit in the US, mostly in the northwest, where there will be three teams with great fans, who have huge song repertoires for their teams, in the MLS next year.

16. My point..
Edited on Sun Jun-13-10 04:15 PM by Lars77
was that it disconnects the fans from the game because the spontaneous reactions to the action is drowned out completely. If you don't see the pitch you dont know whether there's a game on or if it's half time. Same goes for the singing and anything else.

So we're actually talking about the same thing.

18. I kind of like it actually
I think it adds to the experience of the Cup in South Africa, and I think you can follow the action with the loudness of the horns. Also, espn seems to have gotten better at filtering the sound.
