Geography lesson: Charlottsville/UVA is NOT the DC area. It's nearly 3 hours away.
So, they don't count as being the 'DC area'.

Morgantown is about 4 hours away

3. so much for delivering the DC market
WVU has over 7800 alumni living in Maryland

not sure how many in the DC area

some of the eastern panhandle is considered part of the DC metro area so there are definitely WVU fans in the area

probably the 4th largest fan base after Maryland, Va Tech and UVa

WVU gets plenty of students from Maryland as well and northern Virginia too

4. 117 miles. I could almost get there in 3 hours on a bicycle
2 hours at the most in a car, depending on traffic.

Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of folks live in Charlottesville & work in DC.

So it's kinda sorta in the area.

6. Route 29 is a parking lot. But by those standards, Philly is basically DC metro area. nt

5. Lived in Charlottesville in '92.
Well, 15 minutes to the west in the mountains. Even then the urban sprawl had reached Warrenton. I believe the nearby Wilderness Battlefield is under threat from another Walmart complex. Beautiful country.
