1. I've lost interest in Wimby.
All my favorite players are out.

There was some good news today...the Williams sisters lost.

7. They're out of the doubles tournament.
Neither of them played solo today. We were talking about today's events, not yesterday's. :-)

15. Sorry 'bout that.
Didn't mean to get your hopes up. ;-)

Their loss today was a real stunner, especially coming the the heels of Venus' shocking exit yesterday.

Wimbledon is the land of upsets this year. I hope the trend continues and that all the winners will be first-time GS champions.

4. I think Roger is now in the inevitable slide
that everyone thought was happening two years ago. He'll probably be like late-career Sampras and get geared up for the slams--he'll probably even win another one--but he is going to start dropping through the top ten and won't recover. The more difficult question is who will replace him. Nadal, I think, will not be able to get his body to hold up for much longer; Djoko seems incapable; Murray has enough talent and the physical prowess, but he gets too cute too often...and on and on. I'd love to see someone charismatic like Tsonga really make it to the top, but for whatever reason (his head?) he never lives up to his talent/abilities.

The good news is that the men's game is in much better shape than the women's game.

6. Is it only good news when compared to the women's game?
Is there some competition between the two?

9. Well, my primary interest in tennis has been in the women's game
and it's in miserable shape right now--and has been for about the past 7 years. So, when I said that it's good news that the men's name is in better shape than the women's game, it might have been better, and no less true, to say that the bad news is that, whatever the state of flux in the men's game, it is in comparatively good shape.

16. Roger did a remarkable job delaying the inevitable fall
He might win one or two more Slams if everything breaks well for him and he gets on a fan supported sentimental run like Sampras' final US Open win. Otherwise, Roger will be teetering on the edge in every major, struggling to be relevant.

His top priority should be the serve. That's the only way to salvage cheap points when you decline.

I have zero interest on the women's side, and that's destined to be true in future majors. The Miami Herald columnist put it well today, saying the young players have nerves of linguine.

Clijsters' loss removed the final suspense. It would have been delicious to watch her frustrate Serena again.

We :woohoo: when Petra broke her in the first set. Too bad our cheering was short-lived.

I'll be rooting for Vera on Saturday.

Tomas Berdych, no. 12 seed, is 1 set up over the number 3 seed Novak Djokovic and with a break of serve at 6-5 in the second.

He had so many opportunities in both the 2nd and 3rd sets. He's just one of those guys that can't go any further. Roddick is that guy, too

...Nadal, despite his HGH and peds, is beatable on grass...I just hope Thomas plays great and mops up the court with him.

My husband and I beat our kids 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Getting some exercise was so much better than screaming at the teevee.
