Or whatever they call it this year.

Our announcers are being nice about the lack of Marlins fans. But it is emptier than a church on Super Bowl Sunday.

Hey! I thought that Cubanos liked baseball.

to witness it, does it count?

Waiting for Tru to chime in with his usual BS about championships. Well, I'll just pre-respond with this question: did Miami even give a shit?

Of course you have "attendance" to brag about.

It's just too weird. I don't even enjoy watching Giants games from down in Miami.

Hey, I see Ubaldo had another bad outing. He may still have only one loss, thanks to some Rockie comebacks, but his ERA is up to 2.38...seems like only yesterday it was under 1.00

18. The Problem is the stadium
There were 17,000 people there, but most sit behind the plate. No-one sits in the seats where Stanton hit his home run. The weekends do much better. On Friday there were over 30,000 there. Once they move into the smaller stadium it will look more full even if it isn't. It realy doesn't matter - they won the game anyway. A guy with a .192 average and only 3 other at bats this year hit a 2-run homer against Street. And I happened on my birthday!! Woo-Hoo!!

19. Don't explian to the douche bags up above...
The two biggest squealers are fans of teams that have never won a Championship for their hometown fans.

The Marlins new stadium opens next season and it's a baseball stadium in the heart of Miami. I expect attendance will jump considerably and in a year or two the Marlins will win their 3rd WS.

Meanwhile---the Rockies and the Giants fans will continue spouting how great their attendance is---because that's all they got.

20. Yeah..attendance will jump alright..
for about two -three years, maybe even a touch longer if the Marlins are competitive. Eventually though, it will revert back, showing figures similar to what they are today, though perhaps with a slight uptick. That appears to be roughly the pattern when these new stadiums are built. I don't see why Miami should be any different.

You can go on and on about how the Giants, Rockies, or some other club, haven't won a WS..fine. It does little to change the ugly fact that South Florida just hasn't supported the Marlins in the fashion they deserve..

30. As should be...
It all started with Upton's mentor and alter ego Cboy4.

The dude was the first to go with the attendance smack because he was getting a daily beat down about how the Frisco Giants never won a World Series. Of course his sock puppet Upton latched on to it and has continued the douchebaggery.

Compare the Cboy posts with Upton's posts and you'll quickly see they're one in the same.

32. I know
I didn't say anything for Auggie or JackRabbit who are SF-area sports fans but I was pointing out that "never won a Championship for their hometown fans." kinda stings me. Just a reminder that none of the teams I root for never win championships. Also when you say "the Rockies and the Giants fans will continue spouting how great their attendance is---because that's all they got." that stings a little too because I am a Rockies fan and I just pointed out that I never said anything negative about Miami sports teams."

I know exactly who you mean when you say that though. The OP and Upton but when you talk about their teams you're also affecting those that also happen to root for those teams but don't engage in toxic behavior which I have not raised objections to until you mentioned the Rockies lack of championships and that attendance is all they got. I do feel the heat when the Pac-10 is being bashed because Upton bashes almost every conference in college sports except for the Pac-10 and I haven't seen him say anything negative about the SEC.

I'm not disputing anything else you said as I'm well aware of the attendance issue that has been brought up. Just be careful when you're bashing someone's team that is bashing yours because other people root for those teams. When that happens I will do my best to respectfully defend my teams. Yes I also agree Upton is 50x much more wrong than you when it comes to this and it bothers me too.

24. Why exactly do you care how many people are at a game??
Was it because your great hope lost it last night??
Was it because your team lost to a team with a losing record??
Or was it that you guys want to seem better than us in South Florida??

Look, the stadium is a Football stadium, it stinks to watch games there. It's HOT. It rains (as it did last night). And the seats are really uncomfortable. The Marlins have one of the top TV audiences in the country. Most of us don't like the stadium, but love the team. Now me, I'm 150 miles away, so it's TV only for me. When we lived closer, we went to games all the time. When the new stadium opens, we'll take a long weekend and make a vacation out of it. Instead of going to Disney, we'll see the Fish. I can't wait. No rain delays and no excruciating heat!!!!

Seriously. Maybe it was just the way MASN covered it. But there were lots of people with Nats gear on...and all those 30,000 must have been in one part of the stadium. It was by far the least croweded place I'd seen for any of his games....What is capacity there, about 45,000?
