Jonathan Sanchez predicts sweep of Padres

And, yes, that includes a bold statement from Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez, who meets Clayton Richard in Friday night's opener. After his last start, he said, "We're going to play San Diego, and we're going to beat them three times. If we get to first place, we're not going to look back."

Not exactly "I hate the Padres," but you get the picture.

Bochy tried to soften Sanchez's statement on Thursday.

"We've got tremendous respect for the San Diego club and what they've accomplished," Bochy said. "I don't think he quite meant for it to come out like that, but you've got to go out there and pitch and that's what he's got to do."

7. Right now I'm worried the Giants are going to get swept.

They've now lost 8 out of 9 to the Padres. They've all been by 3 runs or less. When you have two of the top pitching and fielding teams in baseball it's those other things that make a difference...like getting picked off second or failure to get down a sacrifice bunt. The Padres are playing well, the Giants better clean it up.
