BYU. The Notre Dame of The West?

That's the expression I've been hearing this week.

BYU may drop out of the MWC and go independent for football on their BYU Network (other sports would join the WAC). Why? To proselytize Mormonism more, I'm told. Well, they can do whatever they want but I hope they go to hell if this ruins an automatic BCS bid for the MWC.

Oh. Fresno State and Nevada are moving from the WAC to the MWC. If BYU stays then there would be two 6 team divisions with a title game. If they go, then Air Force would have trouble playing any teams outside of the MWC and Army & Navy.

6. Who would play them? Who outside Utah (or maybe Idaho) would carry that "BYU Network"?

Notre Dame is barely getting by as an independent even with a national network TV contract and decades of traditition. What makes BYU think that anyone gives a rip about them?

9. The point is that their faith is more important than football TV revenue.

They think they could get more converts if they show BYU football on their own station replete with all sorts of Mormon "teaching". They have been very successful in getting converts through other means.
