One more victory and The San Francisco Giants win the N.L. West
Edited on Thu Sep-30-10 05:25 PM by Auggie
With a magic number of 2 and their next three games against the Padres, all it will take is one more win.

San Francisco beat Arizona this afternoon 4-1.

2. I'm not celebrating yet..
after all, I'm a lifelong Giants fan. I sort of wish they weren't playing San Diego now, because head to head is about the only chance the Padres have left.

3. If the Giants win tomorrow, do they play the other 2 games then?
Seems that would be unfair to the ticket holders if not, lol, so they must play.

I sure wouldn't want to be a Padres fan (or player) if that's the case. Although I guess at that point the Padres are battling for the Wild Card, so I guess the games still matter.

Would the Giants be soft and let them win those games? I think the Giants might do better against the Padres than the Braves.

Well it's fun to watch anyway. Great season for Giants fans!

10. The Padres may still be playing for the NL wild card then.
So the games may still matter to them and Atlanta.

4. I thought the Giants had already won.
Giants repeat as Cal League champions

Juan Perez tripled and scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as the San Jose Giants edged the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, 7-6, to win their second straight Cal League championship.

11. Now THAT was impressive!

The SJ Gigantes only qualified for the playoffs by winning the first half (a common practice in the low minors). During the second half, they were O's/Buccos-style cellar-dwellers. Yet somehow they sucked it up and got it done! :bounce:

P.S. If the A's don't move to SJ, the Giants should use the stadium site, or most of it, to build a park for their AAA affiliate, presently in, um, Fresno.

9. You know it was very interesting...
how Ken Burns' Baseball, the Tenth Inning, went out of the way to mention that even Barroid Bonds couldn't bring a championship to Frisco.

12. It should have happened tonight
In this, the Season of the Blown Calls, behind only Joyce robbing Galarraga of the only milestone he ever would have had, was a midseason game even the Mets admitted we should have won. Remember that if they pull a '78 Boston Massacre-style choke job. :scared:

14. San Fran and Cincy Fans
Very well done this season, hope you make it far. Can I get a little something for beating your division race opponents in back to back weeks giving you the golden opportunity to clinch?? It doesn't have to be a lot just maybe a loose strand from your jerseys?? I want to remember what hard-work and determination feel like.

Signed,

The Chicago Cubs

15. Thanks, Cubs
Better luck next year.

You know, my Dad died at the age of 98 in November. During his lifetime, there were two World Wars, the first trans-oceanic air flights and what Moon landings there have been to this date.

But in his 98 years of walking this earth, the Cubs never won the World Series. Well, it's time they did.

17. "Torture..."
Edited on Sun Oct-03-10 08:43 AM by Auggie
Duane Kuiper calls play-by-play on Giants television and occasionally radio. He called watching the Giants "torture" back in spring or early summer. Seems so much more appropriate than the official AT&T Park slogan, "There's Magic Inside."

"There's Torture Inside"
