1. Is that the hall of fame
for spitting on an umpire or the hall of fame for spreading aids. I thought character counted.

3. Wait Until Next Year
Bonds, Clemens and Sosa all become eligible. Somehow i think we'll find out that character matters next year, too. (Not that i think it should. I think the writers are all sanctimonious buffoons.)

5. Bonds will be interesting because his trial should be over by the time they vote.
I wonder if Bonds is found not guilty of lying\, that the sportswriters will let it die.

7. I Doubt It
Where's the proof against McGwire? His percentage went DOWN this year. There are only suspicions against him. No matter how convincing the circumstantial evidence, it doesn't constitute proof. And, yet the sportswriters haven't let it go on him.

On top of all that, Bonds was a tool as a perons and was petulant with the writers. I don't think there is any way the sportswriters let that slide.

No objective proof against Sosa either. I don't see the writers overcoming their predispositions even though he was always pretty friendlly with the media.

I think the interesting one is Clemens, because he was the sportwriters' darling for years. Now he's beomce a pariah. We'll see how consistent the voters are about their sanctimonious standards.

9. McGwire is interesting because he was using android openly, even
leaving in his locker in full view, because at the time it wasn't illegal. To the best of my knowledge, he didn't test positive after the new rules went into affect. His "crime" is not answering questions because he chose to protect his rights. Now, writers and many fans view him dirty. I don't see how the writers can pick and choose through all this. I'm for the idea of just letting them all in on their merits and if they were found using after the new rules, put an inscription on the plaque attesting to this.

10. Then We're Agreeing
The writers are drawing their own conculsions, and i think most of them believe Bonds did steroids, even though there is no positive test. So, i think he's toast.

I also agree with you that you just go on the numbers, and if the standard is met, put them in.

8. Not next year, the year after that.
Bernie Williams is the only new notable player for 2012.

11. My Fault
I misheard what they said on the radio, i guess. I thought those three guys were next year. Same point though. Just wrong year.

4. Bert's nod was well deserved and long overdue.
That he is in is enough to make me happy with this year's voting.

6. The Minneapolis StarTribune had a great article...
explaining why it took so long for Bert to get in. For one, he bounced among several bad teams. For another, particularly after losses, he wasn't exactly a "media-friendly" guy. Those media types he snubbed are the same ones who vote for the HoF and they do love to hold grudges.

Congrats Bert - we ALL circle you this time!
