Dolphins creating controversy by courting Harbaugh while Sparano is still on staff
What's more, they can't hire Harbaugh without interviewing a black candidate first -- Rooney rule.

Discussion on ESPN this afternoon. Look for a lot of press/opinion on this in the coming days.

Dolphins ownership: Epic fail!

2. The Rooney rule is very stupid to begin with.
And I admire Miami's aggressiveness for going after the guy they want.

7. Why is the Rooney rule stupid?
And i hope all black coaches boycott Miami like they did the Lions when Millen tried to set up token interviews when he was already gonna hire Steve Mariucci.

3. Slight correction - a MINORITY candidate
I don't know that it necessarily has to be an African-American.

4. Schefter is saying the Broncos are trying to set up an interview with Harbaugh!
Are the Broncos going to match Miami's offer? :wow:

5. With Elway becoming Executive VP of Player Personnel
I wouldn't doubt it one bit. Stanford guys, you know there has been much discussion about it.

10. This whole coaching carosel is getting really whacky. You guys might
end up with John Fox. And whath the fuck is going on with Sparanno? No one knows what is going on with Jeff Fisher either, though with VY gone, it "looks" like he will be back.

Personally, I'd love to see Harbaugh go to the Raiders just to kick Upton's ass once again! But Davis will probably end up with Sparano.

11. Sparano is a dead man walking...
Everything I've read is that the Phins are throwing the bank at Harbaugh and he's listening.

If the Phins landed him---I'd be OK with that.

12. The Dolphins experience with College coaches isn't that good...
Edited on Thu Jan-06-11 10:54 PM by madinmaryland
Saban.... Saban... Saban...

And then you guys tried to retread a former coach who actually did win Super Bowls and the NC and still failed.

Edited to add: The former coach won in Miami at the college level, no less!!!

It's tough replacing a legend. At least he is on a diet!!

13. Looks like I was wrong. Breaking on ESPN, Harbaugh is not going to Miami.
Dolphins will retain Sparano...

This is just tragic.

14. Who knows anymore?
Yesterday the 49ers supposedly had him all wrapped up. Then today the Dolphins did. Maybe he's going back to Stanford..

15. I think it is between Stanford and the 49ers.
He would eventually want to coach in NFL and Luck will be in Stanford for one more year so he may join the 49ers.

Denver is also a possibility. They want to interview him and there is the Elway connection...

Never seen a coach flip flop this many times with respect to where he was going to go. The guy is not right in the head.

So, maybe he knows something we don't; like Harbaugh is going back there.
