Giants Brian Wilson parties with Charlie Sheen..

Charlie Sheen threw ANOTHER party at his house this weekend ... and he had to fly across STATE LINES to pick up his guest of honor -- the awesome, bearded San Francisco Giants pitcher Brian Wilson. Sources close to the actor tell TMZ, Charlie flew on a private jet earlier that day to pick up the Giants closer in Arizona -- where the team is holding spring training.

We're told the trip was all for a brief male bonding session at Charlie's pad -- where Charlie, Brian, and several other ball players watched movies and chilled for several hours.

For a change, this Sheen party was only "R"-rated -- because according to sources, the crew clinched the evening with a screening of Charlie's very own 1989 classic "Major League."

Charlie flew Brian back to Arizona hours later. No drugs, no booze, no cops ... and no sign of "The Machine."

Wilson sure has become a popular guy. I guess that comes with success, his quirky personality doesn't hurt none either. He's now rivaling Lincecum as the face of the franchise. Just as long as he's ready for the season..

2. Thats what I was thinking
I wonder how many years off a career hanging around with Charlie Sheen takes you, between drugs, booze and women, let alone being arrested being commonplace? I would be furious if I heard about any baseball player on my team hanging around with Sheen...:puke:

is going to take years off Wilson's career? Yeah, okay TZ..:eyes:

Btw, do you check all the Nats to make sure whomever they're hanging with meets with your approval?

7. None of them have been thrown in Jail lately
Edited on Tue Feb-22-11 10:25 AM by TZ
So, I think thats okay.
Really, you think its okay for your buddy to hang around with someone who throws parties where people OD,or go out and drunk drive afterwards? Or thrown in jail for destruction of property
I got it, using illegal substances, getting arrested assaulting women, hanging out with prostitutes are okay, Ron Mexico? Hey, if you are okay with your hero getting a health threatening disease (because you know, I've heard syphilis is SOOOO helpful to one's curveball) go for it.
How dumb can you be, seriously?
Lets put it this way...people here are thrilled to hear that Stephen Strasburg is giving up chewing tobacco due to Tony Gwynn's cancer...So I'm betting I'm not the only person here that would feel the same way
BTW, maybe you should ask Nick Adenheart's family about how people with substance abuse problems can destroy an atheletes career and LIFE. I'm shocked Sheen has not killed any of his friends yet. What a time bomb

8. Wilson is going to get syphilis now?
 Seriously, aren't you jumping to conclusions just a little bit? I mean, it's not as if Sheen is Wilson's best friend. Brian's pitching will do his talking...that's all that matters.

As for Sheen..lots of people do illegal substances, I see nothing wrong with frequented prostitutes either. Beating up on a woman isn't cool, but I don't see how that is supposed to affect Wilson...is assaulting women contagious?

maybe I don't pay enough attention...though I could care less what Sheen does in his personal life. I'll leave that to PC busybodies like you..

3. TMZ article is not accurate according to Wilson
Sheen and other filmmakers wanted to discuss a sequel to the film Major League.

From the San Francisco Chronicle, 2/22/11:

""They wanted to talk about my mound presence and pitching mechanics," Wilson said. "They wanted to talk about the World Series and mostly workouts ... I was sitting there with producers and executives talking about pitching in pressure situations, talking about the World Series. What am I thinking about walking onto the field? Why are nutrition and workouts the biggest part of my life?

"We're sitting there rapping about clubhouse atmosphere. Why is the Giants' clubhouse so good? Can that be correlated into a baseball movie today?"

Everyone then watched a screening of the original "Major League."

LINK: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/02/21/SP301HRDLU.DTL#ixzz1EhI6KduS\

The article continues: "Wilson tweeted last week that Sheen was "LEGENDARY. :eyes: I must meet (him)" and said Monday he accepted the invitation to come to Los Angeles because, "Quite frankly, when Rick Vaughn (Sheen's character) calls the bullpen, I'm going to answer—on a professional level, of course."

Wilson cleared the trip with manager Bruce Boche.

Sheen is still an asshole. Wilson is pushing it.

6. To quote Andrew Baggarly..
"As the beat reporter, I’ve always maintained a pretty simple standard when it comes to athletes and their social/private lives. It’s only fair game if it affects their performance on the field.

"If Wilson keeps racking up saves, then his off-field activities will remain nothing more than what we in the newspaper business call “brite” stories. But if he doesn’t get the job done, then it’s a different story altogether."

As distractions go, I'm much more concerned about the Showtime documentary..

9. Yeah, well...
okay, but I still object to athletes who are hypocrites or openly campaign for politicians and/or push political ideologies (that can wait until after their playing days). The movie thing I can understand. Ball players like Wilson grew up with Major League and I get that he wanted to meet Charlie Sheen the actor, not Charlie Sheen the jerk.

Aside from that, Wilson is pushing his persona to the point that it's becoming boorish, IMO. Eccentricity? Part of baseball. But don't be annoying. I want opposing batters to be scared of his fastball, not pissed-off at him. Take a clue from Aubrey Huff who retired the rally thong. It was amusing to a point.

Agree about that documentary. Cameras can bring out the worst in people.

Never been a fan. Of course, Seau wasn't accused of any of this until AFTER he finished playing (for both the Pats and Dolphins).

21. Who the hell is that?

You really had to bust out the shovel to dig up this guy, but you didn't bring up enough dirt to cover over Dolphins #1 wide receiver BRANDON MARSHALL.

i had to Google him to find out who he was.

"On August 23, 2010, Ojinnaka was traded to the New England Patriots for an seventh round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. After serving his one-game suspension in Week 1, Ojinnaka was inactive for the team's next two games. He was released on September 30, 2010. The Patriots re-signed Ojinnaka on October 7, 2010. In total, he was active for eight games in 2010, all as a reserve."

And since you were so keen to point out that Upton avoided any mention of Sheen's history, I'll note that, though you've mentioned him several times since the trade to Miami, you haven't mentioned Marshall's history of violence once since then.

All I'm saying, Trumad, is that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You're working pretty hard to put me in one (and maybe I belong there, I haven't thought about ALL the athletes I've cheered for in the past) but you're already there.

Edited on Thu Feb-24-11 06:01 PM by hughee99
just because their closer hung out once with Charlie Sheen on a rare "incident free" day. I don't think the off-the-field actions of a single player necessarily reflect on an entire team or fan base.

He started this OP because he obviously thought it was cool that his boy hung out with Sheen--- being that his boy is so "popular".

There aint nothing cool about hanging around a wife beating POS like Sheen.

18. The TMZ article is not accurate...
And I find the way in which it is written to be sophomoric and odious.

Team or no team... hold it, I'm getting sucked in again.
