Few things I found interesting...the Giants are now at #4 in MLB, Sharks #3 in the NHL, and the Dallas Cowboys, despite the fact they like to market themselves as "America's team", were 21st among the NFL's 32 teams.

17. There are no Baltimore teams on there for a reason
Baltimore fans, like DC fans in generally are far from being loyal fans. In fact Baltimore fans are really classic bandwagon fans, because unlike the Skins who have been far worse than the Ravens of late they still sell out constantly. Not so much in Bmore. And you know that Angelos kept a team out of Washington for years because he knew that a good 30-40% of the fan base were from DC NOT Baltimore.
The Colts moved because they weren't getting fans. But how classy of Baltimore it was to steal a team from Cleveland WHEN IT WAS STILL SELLING OUT GAMES.
You really need to get over this shit. This is why I and so many people in my area LOATHE Baltimore sports teams.

4. That's a meteoric rise by the Pats
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 12:02 PM by KamaAina
in the pre-Brady and (yes) Belichick era, you could still find plenty of NY Giants fans throughout New England, back when the guys with the fellow in colonial dress centering the football on their helmets (his name is Pat Patriot, FYI) were known as the "Patsies".

8. This is one ludicrous survey.
Edited on Thu Mar-24-11 04:28 PM by HuckleB
Almost all the teams at the top of the list have been winning the past few years. It's easy to be loyal to winning teams. The factors they consider to do with loyalty, and far more to do with current success.

This survey is not about loyalty in any way, shape or form.

12. I'm With You Huck
I think their methodology is dubious, at best. While trying not to sound like a homer, i can't see how the Cubs are not at least in the top 5. Team hasn't won anything for 105 years, but they get 3+ million paid per year in that dinky ballpark, and their local TV ratings are better than all but a couple team in MLB, despite the fact that there's another MLB team 8 miles away.

The rest of the leagues i don't have as clear a question mark, but i agree that there are way too many "what have you done for me lately" teams, and that would seem to be the opposite of fan loyalty.

16. Indeed.
And, yes, Cubs fans are a perfect example. They should be at the top of the list, IMO.

9. Weighted heavily to current success/popularity.
To say that Patriots fans are more "loyal" than Steelers, Saints, Raiders, or Lions fans is ludicrous, and I am one.

Still, Boston rules!

But you gotta keep the Bruins up there higher. Sinden has been filling seats with fairy dust for decades...
