NFL Sees Signs Fans Are Turned Off
Source: AP

By BARRY WILNER

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The NFL is seeing the early signs of cracks in fan loyalty.

Ten weeks into the owners' lockout of the players, Commissioner Roger Goodell noted Wednesday the negative effect the labor dispute is having on pro football.

"Clearly it has had an impact on the fans," Goodell said as the owners completed their spring meetings. "We see it in various metrics. There's been a noticeable change, TV ratings were down on the draft roughly 4 million people. NFL.com traffic (is down), we see that."

Ticket sales also are down.

2. They are sooooo stupid for continuing this bullshit
It took the MLB years to recover from the strike in 94.

5. Oh, he didn't murder him! He just watched someone else do the killing
and left the scene of the crime...unless, of course, the others were covering up for him, which I doubt they would do since he's rich and famous and that never happens!

7. 1994
I haven't been back to a baseball game since.

Football players give up some of their life for the game and should be fairly treated in retirement. Baseball players don't do jack for their millions.

Football, you're on notice! Don't fuck around!

9. I'm a Packer fan too

Had a Super Bowl champ icon at the bottom until I put up the State of Wisconsin Solidarity icon.

8. A lot of NFL cities have NHL, Baseball and Soccer teams.
The Florida panthers put out a wonderful add. "You don't know if they'll play next year, we will, get your season tickets now."

14. How can you really tell in the off season
that fans are losing interest? People aren't really tuning in or going to NFL.com because they're sick of listening to shit about the labor dispute. For the average person (IMHO) it comes down to a fight between millionaires and billionaires and people aren't interested in that. Now I know some of us have interest in this because it's a labor issue, but for the general sports-following public, they don't find labor disputes interesting. I'd compare it to recent preseasons the same way some people were leary of going to NFL.com, or reading up on NFL discussions because they were sick of listening to the Brett Favre horse shit.
