Woman to swim from Cuba to Florida 30 years after first attempt
A 61-year-old American woman plans to swim through shark infested waters from Cuba to Florida after failing to complete the feat 30 years ago.

Diana Nyad wants to attempt the 103 mile swim without a shark age to protect her.

She first attempted the swim in 1978 but had to give up after she was stung by jellyfish, encountered high winds, started hallucinating and ended up far off course and heading for Mexico. She had completed 76 miles in 49 hours.

Now she plans to try again. She will take to the water on July 23.

During her twenties, Ms Nyad was one of the greatest long-distance swimmers in the world.
