OSU's Terrelle Pryor skipping senior season
June 7th, 2011 / espn.com news services

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The attorney for Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor says the quarterback won't return for his senior season with the Buckeyes.

"In the best interest of my teammates, I have made the decision to forgo my senior year of football at The Ohio State University," Pryor said in a statement released by his lawyer, Larry James.

James added he's unsure if Pryor will make himself available for the NFL's supplemental draft. "That's still to be determined," James said.

Pryor had already been suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for accepting improper benefits from a Columbus tattoo-parlor owner. The NCAA is looking into all aspects of Ohio State's once-glittering program, from cash and tattoos to players, cars and other potential violations.

1. I think the Big 10-11-12 is about to become the Big 10-11 again.

2. I can't imagine anyone is surprised
We all knew it was coming even *before* Tressel resigned.

4. I'm curious about the reason...
my thought: Pryor's concerned his pro value will plummet if OSU sucks without Tressel.

Anybody else?

5. Well since it's pretty obvious they're gonna suspend him for the whole
season...he'd be out a whole year just to come back for his senior year.

Trust me, he knew he was caught and the suspension was going to be added onto.

15. Also investigating him for selling autographs
A source told ESPN TP made about $40k selling autographs last year.

16. Well, if you "own" 8 cars, you need about $40K for the gas alone! nt

17. The IRS might be interested in that $40K
and if it was reported as income.

7. Why is a lawyer making statements
About Pryor skipping his season. That's odd to say the least. Is he in legal trouble now?

8. The article (revised since I posted it) also mentions...
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 07:12 PM by Auggie
He (Pryor) wore "Vick" on an eyeblack patch in honor of Michael Vick in 2009, after the NFL quarterback had been involved in a dogfighting operation. Pryor then infuriated many by saying, "Not everybody's the perfect person in the world. I mean, everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever. I think that people need a second chance." (I didn't know he said that)

After Wisconsin beat the Buckeyes in October, handing them their only loss last season, Pryor petulantly said that Ohio State could beat the Badgers nine out of 10 times.

He also has called former Ohio State quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit "a fake Buckeye" for questioning Pryor's emotional sideline behavior.

--------

Okay, so Pryor tends to get emotional and can say/do stupid things. Maybe that's why a lawyer speaks on his behalf... especially now.

9. I knew that he said that
I also knew that at the press conference at which he announced his college decision he said that he was going to attend "the University of Ohio State." That's when I began to think that perhaps Michigan had dodged a bullet. It took awhile but it seems that I was right. Not the brightest bulb in the string.

pile in.

Just really amusing.

12. I agree
Canes fans have wasted nearly a decade fixated on Ohio State.

Of course, Canes haters are even more pathetic, and going on 30 years.

13. I would much rather have a son play for Woody than Jim
OSU will be back but it may take a bit. Too many good football players in Ohio.

20. Woody still taught an English class.
I am not an OSU guy but I loved Woody. Breaking those old school sideline markers was classic.
