9. U2 played in Baltimore on Wednesday of this week, and started setting up over the weekend before
the concert. It takes several days to set up for the show. It more than just a platform to set up.

From the Baltimore Sun:

Evans said the stage is so big it's actually installed days before the concert takes place. The first day is dedicated to installing the steel flooring system on the field, which is needed to support the rest of the structure. And the steel structure requires an additional four days to build. A production day follows, where the screen, stage and production equipment are brought in.

On average, the size of the tour crew is anywhere between 380 to 520 people. For this event, Evans hired about 1,500 local workers to control security, act as stagehands, and work the concessions. Once the show date has come and passed, it requires two full days to dismantle the set.

Based on that report, at best, the stage might be in Miami Saturday night or Sunday morning.

5. Does anyone agree that Montreal loves hockey?
Didn't their series against the Bruins have this kind of dilemma? I remember a Lady Gaga concert was scheduled so they had to play two games in a row or something like that.

My point is if I'm remembering correctly, I don't think you can pin this thing on Miami not liking baseball when there are other instances of concerts coming first before sporting events.

6. The last time that baseball did this was for security reasons.
A G8 conference in Toronto. I can't remember it every happening for something as trivial as preparation for a music concert.

Face it, the owners and fans of Miami don't give a shit about baseball. They never have. That team belongs somewhere else.

7. The problem is U2
It takes them a week to set up the stage for the show. They have 2 stages so they can travel with one while they are performing with the other. There are a lot of things to get mad at the inept Marlins management - this is not one of them. Plus they do not own the stadium. They only lease it.

8. Will the Fish get any of the gate from Seattle?
Like about 200 tickets? Because that's about all they'd get in Miami.

It is not just the management. A real fan base would not put up with this crap.

11. This was a concert that was rescheduled from last year
Look, blame U2 on this. This isn't a Florida Marlins problem. The management of the stadium scheduled the concert after the Marlins were supposed to be gone, but the U2 set-up is so elaborate it takes 1 week to set it up. The Fish last played on Wednesday. That night the U2 crew started to set up the stage. Pick on the Marlins all you want, but this is not a reason to do it.

12. The Mariners get 84 home games?
Don't get me wrong, I like Seattle...they're my favorite AL team, but how can this be fair to the other clubs in the AL West?

14. Yup. If the M's win the West (or Wild Card) by 3 games or less...
then you can blame the Stinkin' Fish and their fans.

15. The Marlins don't own the stadium
They just rent the stadium from the Dolphins. The Marlins didn't have much of a choice. Basically they're just tenants until the new stadium opens in 2012.

16. A scheduling conflict pushed back the start of last night's game!
And the announced crowd of 10,925 for the Sunday night game was the smallest in the history of Safeco Field.

BTW, haven't seen a loss like this in a long time. The Fish's pitcher threw an intentional ball wild allowing the winning run to score.
