Tiger out of British Open-- per ESPN
Not a surprise. The Open should be exciting anyway with many in contention. I like Mcilroy but would love to see Sergio win one.

1. I didn't like Sergio's antics at first
but he really seems to have cleaned up his act since marrying.

Tiger's only chance is to take off enough time to heal himself (physically and otherwise) completely.

2. Sergio is married?

Doesn't sound right. I frequent several major golf forums and I've never seen that info. Many posters still think Garcia is in a funk after Greg Norman's daughter broke up with him.

Regardless, I'd love to see Garcia pull it off. This is indeed an opportunity, with Tiger out and none of the young guns necessarily suited to this course, which favors bump and run. Rory is more of a dart thrower.

Sergio is still one of the great combos of ball striker and short game. But considering his putting woes you'd think he'd need a clear lead and hold on, similar to what nearly took place at Carnoustie a few years ago.

I think I'll pick Westwood. He's a good Open-style player and has been in decent form, with high finishes at Wentworth and Congressional.

Tiger should sit out the rest of the year. And essentially that's what will happen, particularly if he bypasses the PGA Championship. He certainly won't be eligible for the Fed Ex Cup events.

3. My mistake -- I thought he'd married Greg Norman's daughter.
