The "Super" Walk-off Grand Slam (there was one last night):

According to the Baseball Almanac, a Super Walk-off Grand Slam is when a player on the home team hits a bases loaded home run when trailing by three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It's not as common as you think, and surprisingly, accomplished by many players you'd never suspect. Travis Hafner of Cleveland might be an exception -- he did it against the Blue Jays last night, July 7th, 2011.

"Hafner said he got a tip from teammate Michael Brantley, who struck out against (Blue Jays Reliever Luis) Perez. Brantley told Hafner that Perez's fastball had some sink to it, so Hafner looked for something up in the zone that he could drive. "It's awesome. There's nothing like it," Hafner said of his walk-off slam. "It's the most fun you can have on the baseball field. It's great."

you'd be inclined to think the pitch wasn't just another high fastball.

On MLB 11:"The Show", however I was the road team so I had to pitch in the bottom half.

It was on the road against Florida and I hit the grand slam with Bryce Harper. I was down by 3 with two outs before I started a rally and got 3 men on base. It shocked the hell out of myself when I pulled it off. I was the Rockies. If you're wondering about Bryce Harper I'll explain. The rosters Sony puts out doesn't have Bryce Harper anywhere so I went to download a custom made roster someone created. He is a RF on that game and since Washington already has a RF in Jason Werth they'll trade Harper for a bag of balls. They wanted a LF so I traded a minor league LF for Bryce Harper AND Tyler Clippard. I know it would never happen in real life but it didn't stop me. :)

Plus it was a crucial battle with the Houston Colt 45's for sole possession of 9th place in the National League (OK, just made up the last part, but probably not far from the truth)
I'd noticed Hafner doing that the other day and thought about being at Wrigley with my friend and my mom that day in 1963. It really was a pretty exciting thing to see.
Somehow, I actually still remember some details of that 9th inning, including that the Cubs were down by 4; got one run in, and then had no one on base with two outs when Don Landrum (pretty sure I'm remembering that correctly) beat out a bunt. Also, my aging memory tells me that the homer was on a 3-2 pitch.
