Suspensions for Gregg & Ortiz over brawl
mlb.com / 7-14-11

BALTIMORE -- Orioles closer Kevin Gregg, reliever Michael Gonzalez and manager Buck Showalter were issued fines and suspensions Thursday for their involvement in the incidents that took place between the Orioles and Red Sox in last weekend's series at Fenway Park -- disciplinary action that many in the Baltimore clubhouse didn't view as being entirely fair.

Gregg and Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz -- involved in Friday's benches-clearing brawl after taking offense to a trio of inside pitches and Gregg shouting at him to run out his sacrifice fly -- each received a four-game suspension, with Gregg slapped with a $2,500 fine as well.

Gregg and Gonzales are appealing the suspensions. See link.

1. Yeah. Pretty much shows how dirty the Roid Sox are. They seem to be trying to
out do the Yankees. Oh and...

"Fuck off and die, and take your fellow asshat in crime, madinmaryland, with you."

That's a classic!!

3. Dirty because they fight?
All MLB teams have a fight once in a while. I'm certainly not arguing that they shouldn't be suspended, but this shit happens, and both teams will have to deal with the consequences. Hell, some teams don't even keep the fights on the field. I remember one game earlier this year where park security tasered and beat a fan before arresting him. Can't remember which team it was, though.

2. Four games each. One game for each punch they missed?
Me and the kid took turns adding our own king fu sound effects. Good times.

Bonus joke: "Gregg slapped with a $2,500 fine..." And that's the only slap that landed.

7. 4 games for that?

Seems harsh for Ortiz. It's only one missed start for Gregg.

9. I thought Gregg was a reliever
He used to be the closer for the Marlins and Cubs. When did he start "starting" games??
