QB Matt Hasselbeck leaving Seattle

Free-agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck does not plan to re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks, a source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Hasselbeck will turn 36 in September. His prior contract was signed before the start of the 2005 season and followed by Hasselbeck leading the Seattle Seahawks to their only Super Bowl appearance.

According to multiple media reports, the Seahawks have agreed to a deal with former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson.

This is the first of what I assume will be a lot of big stories in the NFL this week. Most of this morning seemed to be centered in signing undrafted rookies. The 49ers got their share.

If they think Tavaris Jackson is an upgrade, though, I think they'll be disappointed.

He'll play like a future HOFer one week, then lay a giant egg the next. One thing I will say about him, though, is that he is pretty resilient. Doesn't let the bad stuff get him down.
