Former UK players DeMarcus Cousins, Tayshaun Prince, Eric Bledsoe, Keith Bogans, Jodie Meeks,John Wall, Rajon Rondo and Nazr Mohammad will play the Dominican National Team coached by Kentucky's John Calapari. Our starting center this season, Elroy Vargas gets some legal extra coaching from Coach Cal. I can't go as I will be busier than a hooker at a convention with the weird off season game traffic. Oh well, Live on local T V. 16 days until kick off. SEC Baby!

2. I saw these guys in '70
Should have gone to the NBA, they were invited.

Jimmy Dan was in my class in HS and @ UK. I was in Germany when this went down.

Jan van Breda Kolff, Butch's son, was an asshole.

Thanks for this old image, Artis Gilmore was a force, and Louie Dampier was so smooth.

3. I remember following the ABA in the early 70's but I did it mostly
through the newspaper. Occasionally one of the networks would show a game of the week and maybe a playoff game or two. We didn't really have a local ABA team in Ohio, if I recall correctly. We did have the Cincinnati Royals (with the Big O) and then the Cleveland Cadavers. Followed the Pistons a bit on the radio, but ended up following the Celtics starting in the late 60's.

4. Well the big shot ex UK pros had their asses handed to them
Dominican Republic beats former Wildcats by 18.
Ms era , I was too busy to watch, said the NBA stud ducks were loafing.

I loved the ABA Mad, I had just moved to Kentucky from Georgia in '67 and I had never even touched a basketball. In Augusta in the 60's it was football ,baseball, golf, and more football. I knew nothing about the NBA and these guys were so good. When they had Issel, Dampier, Goose Ligon, and Gilmore they were a match for any NBA team. My favorite ABA player was Dr. J. I got to see him play a couple of times.
