Dolphins losses mount, source says Henne could be done for year
<snip>

"And now they've lost Chad Henne.

He's out. He's done for at least a while. His left shoulder is separated badly enough the Dolphins even might have lost him for the year depending on what's decided, according to a source."

Report: Dolphins may lose Henne for year

<snip>

"Miami Dolphins quarterback Chad Henne is facing considerable time on the sidelines, and may even be out for the year, after separating his left shoulder, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Tuesday, citing sources.

Henne sustained the injury to his non-throwing left shoulder during Sunday's 26-16 loss to the Chargers, which moved the Dolphins to 0-4.

He will seek a second opinion from an independent shoulder specialist this week and the report from the doctor will determine whether he will be able to play through the injury or require surgery, The Miami Herald reported.

The Sun Sentinel source said the shoulder was separated badly enough that even in the best-case scenario he would be out for at least a while."

1. Is this bad??
I'm not sure. Moore seems OK. And if he would have worked with the first team they may have scored a couple of TDs, but boy the offense really stinks either way.

2. Apparently if you're a quarterback and your first name is Chad...
Stay away from Miami! There's got to be some sort of curse going on...only explanation I can see.

9. Miami's season over/under was 8 wins
I played it under. My friend dumped a bundle, enough to lower it to 7.5.

I do that so often. Friends take more advantage of my advice than I do. :shrug:

Henne may be sidelined but he unintentionally left us with the apropos quote a couple of weeks ago: "These guys are not going to stop quitting"

Suck For Luck is all over the place on Dolphin message boards right now. There's literal fear over the prospect of signing someone like David Garrard, who might screw things up by competently winning a few games.

Today I heard a Miami radio talk show host -- in all seriousness -- propose that Jeff Ireland might be stupid enough to have the first pick and bypass Andrew Luck, swapping for more picks.

I'm looking forward to October 23 and the Broncos game, with the tribute to the 2008 Gators. The way it's going, casual fans won't attend and it's all but certain to be the first home blackout in a decade. But local regulars will be unnerved beyond description, booing anything and everything all afternoon. My secret desire is an uninterrupted 30 minute chorus, disrupting the game. That would be legendary but I'm not sure the collective vocal chords are up for it.

Actually, I'm probably going to bet the Dolphins in that game. You are guaranteed to get a supreme effort fueled by embarrassment, particularly if they are still winless after the Jets game. Miami has lost 10 or 11 consecutive games after playing the Jets. If they don't beat Denver in this incredibly favorable spot, it might go another 10 or 11.

10. It's official:
Miami Dolphins’ Chad Henne to miss rest of season

<snip>

"Chad Henne’s season is over, and possibly his Dolphins career, as well.

Henne decided Thursday that he will undergo surgery on his injured left (non-throwing) shoulder, a procedure that will sideline him for months.

Former Dolphins quarterback Sage Rosenfels was signed to replace Henne on the Dolphins’ 53-man roster, but Matt Moore will be the starter, at least initially. Rosenfels was released by the Giants this week after recovering from a blood infection that hospitalized him in August.

Henne and the Dolphins sought a second opinion this week, and a doctor advised Henne to have surgery because of the severity of the separation. He will undergo the operation next week."
