Mike Stoops out at Arizona after 8 years
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Coach Mike Stoops has been fired halfway
through his eighth season at Arizona.

Athletic director Greg Byrne announced Stoops' dismissal
at a news conference Monday evening, two days after the Wildcats
lost their fifth straight game, 37-27 at previously winless Oregon State.



"It's just a lot of things, overall where we are at with our program,"
Stoops told ESPN.com's Ted Miller on Monday.

Dating to last season, Arizona has lost 10 of 11 games, the lone victory
this season's opener over Northern Arizona, a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) school.

2. If his teams didn't suck at football, he'd still have a job.
Although that doesn't explain Rick Neuheisel.

We're all trying to figure that one out.

3. Porbably better this way
at the rate he was going he'd have a stroke on the sidelines before long. Always wondered how coaches like Stoops and Pellini can yell at kids to have discipline when they can't even control themselves.
