Pays to be a High Priced Football Player
Today it was announced that the cheerleaders who had been caught having sex in a restroom stall have been fired. Maybe I am wrong, but this seems like a double standard to me. These women got arrested for having sex in a stall and they were fired. Many football players do things that are much worse than this and are not punished this severely. For instance beating their wives or girlfriends, assaulting people, attempting to rape, and drug use and are never fired or suspended. If football players can do all those things and either get small punishments or no punishment at all then these women should not be fired. Really noone even knows these women and noone will remember their names come the next football game. However, many people know the football players who get into trouble. It is sad

1. Did any of the sex-boat Vikings get canned?
I don't think so.

2. Hell no
I think they should have, though...the Vikings practice squad couldn't possibly do any worse than the actual team this year.

3. Its business 101.
The cheerleaders have skills that can easly be replaced so there margin of error is much lower.

4. A couple of things....
First off, though the sex part has given the story a twist. One of the girls punched someone trying to get into the stall. She also misrepresented her identity. The other girl was reported to be so drunk she could barely stand. They signed contracts with good conduct clauses giving the team and out in firing them.

The difference between the cheerleaders and players, is one has a union and limited talent pool, the other doesn't.

5. wait a minute
last year panthers wr steve smith beat the ever living piss out of another teammate in the locker room and was suspended a game. Double standard. I guess players don't have a conduct clause.

6. I'm not defending the actions of the NFL in respect to player conduct...
...the OP did not give the full story on the cheerleaders though.

I think that was more than one year ago...not that it matters. You also have to factor in the unfortunate fact that he's a Pro Bowl receiver and the cheerleaders were 1st and 2nd years on the team. I say unfortunate because that just the way it is. Not the way I think it should be.

Oh one more thing to add in not defending the org but looking for resoning behind the moves. The Panthers have been had embarrassing news about steroid use come out in the last year and they are practically allergic to bad PR now.

I found this article on a Steve Smith of USC that was actually worse.

7. I live in charlotte and am sick of how the panthers always have
and excuse for smith's conduct. the panther's have a knack for bad headlines:

Ray Carruth

Fred Lane

Todd Sauerbraun

Jared Cooper

Roids Roids Roids

And now the Top Cats

8. the players have unions
the cheerleaders don't. The cheerleaders usually sign 'good behaviour' clauses. that's it.

9. Sad
Why do cheerleaders have to sign good behaviour clauses?
