Houston Pastor, Deion Sanders Defend Michael Irvin
Edited on Thu Dec-01-05 10:41 AM by rocknation
From the San Luis Obispo Tribune (AP)

A Houston pastor...said former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin was telling the truth about a friend struggling with drugs, confirming that the unnamed man enrolled in a church-sponsored rehabilitation program before leaving less than a day later. "This guy would not abide by our program and left. He didn't stay a day."

Irvin, who was arrested Friday on an outstanding warrant for an unpaid speeding ticket, told authorities that a marijuana pipe found in his vehicle belonged to a friend. He said he took the pipe from the man after he showed up at his house on Thanksgiving, putting it in his car with the intention of disposing it later.

The pastor made the statements on the same day that Baltimore Ravens safety Deion Sanders came to Irvin's defense. "Michael Irvin is totally innocent," Sanders said..."I know the whole situation, and it isn't what it seemed. From his history, we were able to jump to conclusions and we shouldn't do that at all times. This is a country that says we're innocent until proven guilty, but it seems like it's the direct opposite."

So why did Irvin tell the police that the pipe (found in a compartment under the driver's seat in a Versace sunglass case with marijauna-infused baggies and a silver lighter) had been "left" there by his "brother"? And why didn't he destroy the pipe on the spot? It was made of glass--all he had to do was step on it. Also, Houston is four hours away from Irvin's home in the Dallas area--how did his friend get there? Oh, and Deion, I'm sure that what you know of the situation is what Irvin chose to tell you!

1. Know nothing about the pastor, but with friends like Deion Sanders,
you might as well just turn yourself in right now Michael!

Yeah, sounds fishy to me, too.

And we know what "pastors" can be like--Falwell, Robertson, Dobson. Just attaching that title to yourself does not make you a trustworthy person.
