of conference championships. Hope Tech enjoys the Holiday Bowl. or wherever they're going now.

and Oregon, at 10-1 is likely to lose out on the BCS.

2. Pretty much a sure bet that the Ducks
get screwed. Again.

But just like the BCS made changes after Oregon got punked in 2001, it'll make changes again...setting up the Ducks to get screwed again around 2010, so the BCS can make more changes, and then in 2015...

for instance, my buckeyes are 9-2, and the two losses are both to top three teams, not to mention that we only lost by 3 one game, and 7 the other (and the three was against texas). yet it's iffy as to whether we'll make a bcs bowl. its just so fucking retarded, the whole system.

4. really, you can't even call it a system
Every year, the "system" is tweaked to make sure that whatever disaster happened the year before is avoided this time around. That's not a system; that's covering your ass.

7. It's funny
Here I was, getting my panties in a bunch about 2 loss teams in the BCS, and then this happens.

5. Get rid of conference championship games so stuff like this
doesn't happen!

The Texas-Colorado game was a joke.

FSU didn't even deserve to be playing for the conference title, but the conference championships are so screwed that stuff like this happens.

Simply go with the team that wins the conference in the regular season, like they used to.

10. How are they screwed?
Isn't that the way the pros play? College basketball? Major League baseball? You win your division and get into the playoff tournament. And sometimes there are upsets. But ALL of the best teams get a shot at the title through the tournament.

The BCS system screws schools because it tries to cling to the voting system in lieu of a real playoff. It's not a fair system because it involves the politics of voting and having to overcome preseason polls. You can go 11-0 and you get in, regardless of the strength of your conference and schedule, because you got voted in the top five to start. OR, you go 11-0 and DON'T get in, despite the strength of your conference and schedule, because you got voted #13 at the start. Since the BCS formula includes the subjective data of voting, it cannot be a fair system.

With a real playoff system, USC and Texas STILL go to the playoffs because they are conference winners. They both are great football teams. I think it would be fairer and more interesting to see them play a couple of more good college teams on the way to the National Championship - like last year, an undefeated Auburn would have had a chance to get to the title game. The year before, Oklahoma would not have faced LSU in the Sugar in the BCS "National Championship" game because they LOST their conference championship. Perhaps we would could have seen the LSU-USC match that should have been.

6. Yep
My charming Hokies did show up to play . . they just didn't show up until the fourth quarter. . .

FSU won that game and all but yah . . . an 8-4 team will get go a BCS bowl game over an 10-2 Hokies team . . . . I mean congrats to FSU they won the ACC game . . . but still . .. just when you look at the records it doesn't seem right.

9. Orange Bowl. Paterno v. Bowden. Paterno won't like it.
Too obvious a pairing, and FSU sucks. But, since Va Tech didn't show up, they will play in the Peach Bowl. Six p.m. on ESPN!
