Poll question: Will the Seahawks ever get any respect?
I know the Colts were not in such a hot mood with what happened to Dungy's son, but the Hawks probably would have dominated the game anyway. The outcome was never in doubt for long, and the Colts are a very good team.

Is it just that East Coast people don't like to stay up late, or what?

2. Who cares?
The Colts had most of their starters benched for the game (and coming off the tragedy this week) and the Seahawks still only won by a mediocre amount considering the circumstances.

Unlike, of course, the Seahawks win over my Iggles ;)

I gotta say though, I can't stand the Seahawks just because of their nutty Bush-loving QB.

3. Seattle wasn't exactly playing with a full deck either.
Starting SS Ken Hamlin - Out
Starting CB Andre Dyson - Out
3rd CB Kelly Herndon - Out
Starting MLB Jamie Sharper - Out

Starting WR Darrel Jackson and top CB Marcus Trufant were lost early in this game.

Seattle's been hit as hard by injuries as any team this side of Green Bay.

Look, they were supposed to beat Indy (in this condition) and they did.

Seattle at full strength can play with Indy, IMO.

7. Indy would kill Seattle
if they tried to win and played their best available players.

8. Well, if you say so.
Hopefully we'll get a chance to find out.

9. your secondary
isn't good enough. But no one's in the NFC is. That's not a knock on your team. Probably the best in the NFC, but beatable.

11. A fair point, but
why is it that whenever this matchup is discussed it's always Indy's offense against Seattle's defense?

I would counter with the fact that I don't think Indy's front seven is good enough to stop Shaun Alexander and the Hawks offensive line. It could very well be enough of a ball control game to give Seattle a good shot.

I guess I think the Seattle offense can trade TDs with the Colts. I really do.

Seattle gets everyone but Hamlin from their secondary back before they would see the Colts again. It's still a vulnerable unit, but will be good enough if Seattle controls the ball.

I'm not saying Seattle should be favored, but I don't see the blowout others predict.

16. Indy's offense
is the best the league has seen in a very long time. That's why. They've beaten the best in the league. And their defense is pretty good when healthy. Seattle is a good team. But hardly the dominant team that Indy is.

10. I'll second this.
Indianapolis is beatable, but not by the Seahawks. Seattle is good, but not Indy caliber.

13. Nothing to do with Sports
If he loves Bush so much why does he not go and fight Bush's war? I do not see him giving up his career, leaving his wife and kid behind, and going to Iraq and fighting the war. Since he think Bush is so great he should. Sorry for bring politics into sports, but I think this needs to be said often to those who are so happy to promote their support for Bush.

14. I totally agree...
So many in the NFL who love Bush would never give up their paychecks to fight the war. It's why I can't stand Indy or Seattle, but at least Indy is really very good this year. Seattle is good team too, but nowhere near the caliber of Indy.

4. Seattle needed it, Indy didn't......
...what QB was in there, and what QB wasn't?....

That game was a give-me for Seattle, and proved nothing....

Incidentally, I'm not dissing the Seahawks. They're the best the NFC has to offer.

6. if the Colts
brought their A game, it would have been a far different result. They were resting starters and didn't care about the result. Let's be honest here.

12. Second String Players
It was reported very early in the game that most of the Colts' starting defensive players were not in the game. Also the Colts' did not have their head coach. Finally, Manning barely made it through the first quarter if he even made it through the first quarter. After about two serieses Manning was out of the game. I did not watch the whole game, but I would not be surprised if all the major starters were taken out of the game at some point. I would like to see the Seahawks play the Colts when they are in full force.

15. Seahawks games are typically played at 4PM Eastern...
so it's not a matter of people "staying up." This isn't baseball where the M's, A's etc finish up around 2AM. The 49ers didn't have problems with the "east coast bias" back when they were winning, btw. It's that the Seahawks have never won anything - for that matter they've never even been close to winning anything. It's seriously going to take a couple of years of sustained quality play before Seattle is considered a top team in the league.

17. They have to win in the playoffs to get some respect.
And if there was something to play for they would not have dominated the Colts.

They have a bye and home field. They can earn respect if they take advantage.

18. Stay up late?
Yeah, those 4pm(EST) starts are a killer. I'm out by 5pm every day.

Three Seahawks games have been carried in my TV market: the games against the Giants, the Eagles and the Titans. I think my Fox affiliate is carrying the Seahawks/Packers game this Sunday. 75% of the Seahawks games I will have seen this season are aginst less than stellar opposition. Then there are the six games I didn't see: the divisional match-ups. Also less than stellar opposition.

That said, if the Seahawks host the championship game they'll get a lot more respect.

19. I don't think they deserve the respect they get currently...
They had one of the softest schedules of any playoff team. Six free wins with their division which is arguably the weakest in the NFL. A freebie against Houston and Green Bay this week. A freebie against a pathetic Tennessee, a freebie against Philly who was minus McNabb and a heart. Oh and their win against the Colts was not against the Colts A-team.

Their toughest games came against the Giants who are hot and cold, the Jags who offensively are inept and the suspect Cowboys and Redskins.

If they didn't win 12 with this gimmie schedule they shouldn't be in the playoffs at all.

The NFC as a whole sucks this year but the Seahawks are vastly overrated. If they were still in the AFC they would have struggled with San Diego and KC to win the Wild Card spot in the AFC West.

22. A much tougher schedule IMO
They played Jacksonville twice, Cincinnati, New England, Pittsburgh, Seattle, San Diego... not exactly cupcakes. They also played Baltimore which was with a healthy Ray Lewis at the time.

Much more difficult than Seattle's schedule.

20. They're getting some here:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=smith_michael&id=2272103

For a couple of weeks -- I'd say those consecutive wins over the Eagles and Niners by a combined score of 83-3 to begin this month probably did it for most people -- the Seahawks have been widely regarded as the best team in the NFC. I'm not so sure about that anymore. No, Seattle's the best team in the NFL. Right now. At this moment. The Seahawks are better than the Colts, who aren't the invincible team they seemed to be three weeks ago. They're better than the Bengals, Broncos, Patriots and Steelers. Right now. At this moment. Better than the Bears and the five NFC teams still fighting for playoff berths. Yup. Seahawks. Best team in football.

To quote Sade, I never thought I'd see the day.
