Good Liberal Sports Writers
Ever read a sports column and see something political thrown in?

I've noticed a lot more that sports writers are dropping subtle political commentary into their writings. One person who has started to do this more is Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News. He bashes Bush practically every week in his Sunday column.

Another person is Dave Dellasandro, who is a basketball writer for the Newark Star Ledger. He covers the Nets, my team, and has a blog http://www.nj.com/newslogs/nets/ that he uses to talk basketball and also drop random political commentary. I've gathered that this guy hates Bush. He's also an excellent reporter.

Sometimes I wish politics was covered the same way sports is in this country. I think the nation would be a lot better off.

1. A local guy had a Heisman vote
and he voted for Vince Young rather than Reggie Bush. His reasoning? Well, he obviously thought Young was a better college player than Bush, but he also said he just couldn't bring himself to vote for anyone named Bush. You can see his comments at www.qctimes.net. Click on "Eye Openers" under the columns section. The guy's name is Don Doxsie. I chuckled when I read that.

2. Mitch Albom, Tony Kornheiser, Michael Wilbon. Perhaps Bob Ryan.
Sally Jenkins, of the Wash Post, is conservative.

Kornheiser can be VERY political on his local radio show.

3. Jim Lampley and Keith Obermann come from the sports world.
And they're terrific liberals.
