Amidst the piss-pounding of pitchers on Opening Day, there was a nice little gem thrown by a coupla fellas down in Deep-In-The-Hearta tonight:

"We went with our normal offensive output," cracked first baseman Lance Berkman. "I always tell the guys (pitchers) if they want to win the game, throw a shutout."

"I wanted to stay in the game," Marlins ace Dontrelle Willis said. "I don't know exactly what the pitch count was (it was 107 after 5 innings; Willis had surrendered his first hit after 4 2/3), but I didn't want to come out that game at all."

Oh yeah; 40-year-old steroid-free Craig Biggio started the Astros' rally when he doubled into the left-field corner with two outs in the seventh. It was the 605th double of his career, tying Paul Molitor and Paul Waner for 10th place on the all-time list.

I caught some of that last night. Looked like a nice, tight game.

I suppose I might have to go see some MLB this year. I haven't seen any in a while. I'll have to check the Astros schedule for when they're playing someone interesting. Maybe I'll go see the Rangers, too.

I'll get us some club level.

WestHoustonDem is a big Mets fan and she and Lisa0825 and us went last year. But the Mets aren't here until September.
