I think Italy will win the World Cup.

Okay, make your predictions now while it’s early.

For bragging rights as the Football know it all.

4. After the Argentina v Serbia game
I suspect most people will be leaning towards Argentina! Myself I would probably mention the Germans. They always seem to do well at the big tournaments, plus they have home advantage which always helps.

13. Germany, Portugal, Brazil, England, or Argentina ... in that order.

:dunce:

I think Sweden, Spain, and Italy will make it very "interesting" - and be called "spoilers" by some.
I'm sorta rooting for Ghana, myself ... I love their 'Cinderella' attitude.

19. Well, my top two picks are still in there. I'll stick with them.
Even though France (et Zidane) really looked impressive today.

20. Portugal’s goal keeper is impressive …

Scoring wise, I think Italy and Germany are better in creating opportunities for themselves than Portugal is.

I think Italy has been tested more than any other team up until now, while Germany’s
only test so far has been Argentina.

So I’d say Italy is the most deserving of the championship as of now.

BTW, I think any team that tries to play defense throughout the whole game and win
the final in penalty kicks is not deserving of a championship title.

18. France
I saw Italy playing the US and they did not impressed me at all. Neither did Portugal, I though they were whiny (Specially Figo). Today was my first time seen France play and they did great. I didn't know Zidane was such great player even under stress. I have seen Brazil playing many times and did not expect they losing to France. I am still shocked, France BEAT Brazil. But hey... this is Soccer.

I see Italy winning to Germany. And them playing the final with France.

21. I honestly don't know, but after watching France defeat
Brazil this afternoon, I was very impressed. The French team played with "heart" and I believe the French have a point to prove: that their win in 1998 wasn't a fluke.

The French totally deserved to win that game and I'm one American that is completely delighted they did.

Vive Le France and besides that everytime I hear La Marseillaise, I get goosebumps. Best national anthem ever....

I guess you could say I'm rooting for France, huh....

22. Trust me...
My hubby is driving me nuts singing The Marseillaise...

But that team got me with their game. There was passion there even tho everyone seemed to just say that Brazil did not played good. No one talks about the magnificent play by France.

where I said past form indicated it would be between Germany, Italy, France and Brasil

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=191&topic_id=16868&mesg_id=16869

Three out of those four are filling the semi-final slots. I am pretty sure that if the draw had been a little kinder to Brasil and pitted them against either Portugal or England rather than their hoodoo team France then they would have taken the fourth slot.
