Israeli wins Wimbledon title
Andy Ram has become the first Israeli tennis player to win a Wimbledon title.

The 26-year-old triumphed in the mixed doubles final at the famous centre court at the London club on Sunday with Russian partner Vera Zvonerava.

The pair beat Venus Williams and Bob Bryan of the United States, 6-3 6-2.

Doubles success

Ranked just 657 in the singles rankings, Ram has found success in recent years in the doubles circuit with fellow Israeli Yoni Ehrlich. The pair won the pre-Wimbledon Nottingham tournament together last month.

But it was playing in the mixed competition that he won the major English tournament, his first Grand Slam win.

Personally, I think this should be in at worst the Israel/Palestine forum or the Lounge.

Anybody read this page?

Great news anyway...always have to laugh about Koufax getting sportsman of the century...Koufax, Spitz, Hank Greenberg, etc...

But especially: Jill St. John!
