20 years ago today (25 October 1986)
A ground ball trickled through the legs of Red Sox first basemen Bill Buckner in the 10th inning of game six of the world series. The winning run scored and the New York Mets went on to be world series champions.

1. I was celebrating my six-week wedding anniversary
with my lovely bride -- of now just over 20 years -- out in the west Texas town of Plainview, where we had just moved to take our first big corporate jobs. And when I say "celebrating", I mean celebrating in the way newly wedded twenty-somethings celebrate.

I know; not quite as historical, but significant nevertheless.

I'm pretty sure I missed the ballgame because I was still mad at the Mets having defeated the Astros to get to the WS.

3. I was leaping around in my living room. What NL/ALCS &WS games...
those were.

Henderson's home run, the Buckner ball , the parachutists, etc. Crazy!

And how could you not include a picture!

This will drive Sox fans nuts but this is actual memorobillia that is sold.

5. Sox fans need to get a grip.
Regarding the Buckner thing. Dave Henderson announces now for the Mariners and he doesn't have any har feeling about that play. They still had another game to play and couldn't get it done.

6. I remember exactly where I was standing and in which bar
and thinking to myself, "what if they go on to lose the next game, and that error winds up costing them the World Series"?
