Does anyone think the WNBA is soon going to be coming to an end? I ask this question in that it seems that all the NBA owners are selling their WNBA teams. Earlier this year the Houston Comets were put up for sale and yesterday I read that the Los Angeles Sparks have been sold. A number of other WNBA teams have already been sold from under their NBA owners. It is estimated that the teams on average lose about $1 million a year. I know that the WUSA tried to go along without the MLS and that league broke up because they were not able to get enough sponsors. Will the same fate happen to the WNBA?
It's too showy. I like college basketball and have season tickets to the men's team at my college (Iowa). I just lose interest in basketball after the college level.
The attendance has been about 20% of all seats and more than 60% are gratis. So, they're selling 8% of capacity. Not exactly the best cash flow position. The Professor
