For the golfers - Tiger is only one back in Dubai.
He's made up 2 shots on Ernie Els through 10.

Fuck! As I was typing he missed a 3 footer. 2 back now.

2. The Golf Channel.
Damn, if he was putting even half as well as he usually does, he'd be running away with this thing.

4. Definitely not his finest moment.
I think he was so engaged in trying to remain focused on being a golfer as opposed to a spokesman, that he missed an opportunity. But I still root for him every time he tees it up.

7. But he deliberately, and snarkily, rebuffed the president's invitation...
to come to Shea for the retirement of Robinson's number in baseball...and said he had vacation plans.

"They should have asked me before I won the Master's."

and how the hell he received the '06 "Athlete of the Year Award" instead of Roger is beyond reason.

11. Two majors in golf beats three in tennis
Edited on Sun Feb-04-07 05:59 PM by Awsi Dooger
Simply a more difficult feat, given the nature of the two sports. Look at the mathematical realities; Tiger is always an underdog to win a given major, in the 5/2 range. Federer is a heavy odds-on favorite in every major other than the French. He was -250 (2/5) in the Australian Open this year.

I'm not diminishing Federer at all, but beating seven guys one by one with a day in between matches in not as difficult as overcoming an entire field of 140+ opponents, playing four days in a row. Plus, Tiger ended the year with six straight wins, unheard of in the modern era.

If Federer wins at Roland Garros everything will fall into place for him in terms of awards and greatest of all time honors. I will say this, Federer is getting better while Tiger is still not even close to his 2000 form. He can pretend otherwise but if you look at tape of him from 2000 his swing was much more solid especially with the driver.

Both Tiger and Federer suffer somewhat from a lack of a premier challenger.

9. LOL---Yeah---it sounds like he hates Clinton.
Tiger Woods will be joined by former President Bill Clinton, First Lady of California Maria Shriver, Southern California students, teachers and community leaders for the dedication of the Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC), an innovative youth-education facility located in Anaheim, California.

The much-anticipated event serves as the culmination of a four-year, $25 million campaign to transform Woods’ dream of creating an educational center to inspire and support the career exploration of students. The ceremony will feature remarks from Woods, Clinton, and local officials, and will culminate in tours of the facility.

10. Looks like he owned up to it.... but you won't forgive him because of why?
When the chill fell on caddie/media star Fluff Cowan, the new man on the bag was Raymond Floyd's veteran caddie, Steve Williams, who makes himself invisible. ("Fluff got more out of Tiger than Tiger got out of Fluff," another caddie says.)

Woods sought out Rachel Robinson, Jackie Robinson's widow, after turning down an invitation from the president of the United States to attend a tribute for her late husband the week after the 1997 Masters.

"I've made my share of mistakes," Woods says, "and I've learned from them. The baseball game for Jackie Robinson, I should've gone. I told Mrs. Robinson, 'Whatever you may think of me, I admire what your husband did, and I know he was an even better person than athlete. He will always be one of my heroes.' "
