102 year old lady cards hole-in-one
http://golfchannel.com/core.aspx?page=15100&select=22218

CHICO, Calif. -- Elsie McLean thought she might have lost her ball on the par-3, 100-yard fourth hole at Bidwell Park.

Instead, the 102-year-old Chico woman became the oldest golfer ever to make a hole-in-one on a regulation course.

Because of the slope of the green, McLean and her partners couldn't see where her ball landed after she teed off.

"Where's my ball?" McLean asked.

Her friends, Elizabeth Rake and Kathy Crowder, found it in the cup.

Wonder what Imus will have to say about her...

2. And I'm jealous as hell

I've never made an ace and it burns my ass. Especially since I've seen 5 or 6 playing in the same group as me. Two of them were pathetic shots that scampered into the hole after barely getting airborne, one on the par 3 course at Doral.

My closest was about an inch on a mountainside course in North Carolina. It was something like this woman's shot since a big bunker guarded the front of the green and you couldn't see the landing. I had a feeling of anticipation walking toward the green since it was a perfect controlled draw like my teenage prime, but when I got there the damn Titleist was smack behind the hole. It had to miss by a fraction, perhaps even a lip out.

I saw this story on the news last night and mentioned it to my mom. She took up golf in her 50s and now loves the game in her early 70s. She can hit the green on short par 3s of 125 yards or less. She made a birdie last week and an old man playing with my parents reportedly was mumbling to himself.

Damn, I wish those old executive courses were still around, the par 60s with 12 par 3s and 6 generally short par 4s. I never appreciated them enough in the '70s, all the chances at the elusive ace.
