Clinton Portis Likes Dogfighting Too
Besides being a former Hurricane, now I have another reason to dislike Clinton Portis. How would people react if Portis had said, "It's his wife, he can beat her if he wants."

With all that's going on in the NFL with disciplinary problems, this is the one issue that enrages me more than any other.

Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis defended Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick in the dog-fighting controversy, WAVY-TV reported.

"I don't know if he was fighting dogs or not, but it's his property, it's his dog," Portis told WAVY-TV. "If that's what he wants to do, do it. I think people should mind their business."

Portis also told WAVY-TV that he knows "a lot of back roads that got the dog fight if you want to go see it" and that "if it's behind closed doors, it's OK."

1. Well, watch for these people to do damage to other humans
It's well documented that there is a link between people who are willing to inflict suffering on animals can be at risk to go on to hurt other people.

2. Do Not Get It
I do not get what so many people see in dog fighting. I do not understand why they like it so much. I have never seen dog fighting live, so I do not see why some might think it is exciting. I have only saw dog fighting in movies. I was wondering if it was the money, but these guys have a large amount of money so they should not need the money. In Michael Vick's case I do not see why he would risk giving up the rest of his $130 million contract.

3. Maybe the Broncos traded him because of his mental deficiencies.
I really hate this dog fighting shit.

4. Just a couple of lowlife punks
You have to wonder what other kind of behaviors they find acceptable "behind closed doors". Maybe Vick will find out when he finds himself behind bars.

5. Portis and Vick are both lower than whale shit
Dog fighters rank only marginally higher on my personal shit list than child molesters and wife beaters.

6. Yeah, and there's another aspect ot this report that's bothering me...
... and that's all those (including some high-profile sportscasters and commentators) who are trying like hell to offer the rationalization that dog-fighting is just part of the culture of the rural South.

Well maybe in some parts of the rural South it is, but Mike Vick IS NOT FROM THE RURAL SOUTH!! He's from Hampton Roads-- Newport News, Va, to be exact. The Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News metropolitan area is ranked 27th in the nation with a population of 1,542,143. Being "rural" has nothing to do with Vick's behavior -- but being a THUG does. I lived in Norfolk for ten years and to hear some people excuse Vick's behavior because of his "rural" upbringing is beyond ludicrous.

7. I'm really disappointed in Portis...
I expected more of him, thought he was a class act.
