It's now official: The Cubs are a joke.
I am a long suffering Cub fan and I can't remember any team ever being so bad at basic baseball such as throwing to the wrong base, getting picked off frequently, catching the damn ball, not being able to lay down a bunt, poor pitching, etc. Aaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!!!! In case you can't tell, I am really P.Oed and ready to just say the hell with these guys. Soriano=bust, Barrett=crap defense, Jones= crap player, Floyd=journeyman, and on and on. Today, Zambrano and Barrett had fisticuffs, landing Barrett in the hospital. A joke team. Hendry must go.

1. The Cubs are my second team (Behind the Dodgers)

so I can relate to your disappointment. Look on the bright side, this division is up anyone's grab, this might be what the team needs to wake up. (I was under the impression this team just didn't give a damn so seeing this made me hopeful for the rest of the season.) Keep in mind they're only 7 1/2 out.

As disappointing as this season has been so far it ranks nowhere near the disappointment of 2004. The team made so many "upgrades" at various positions. Michael Barrett from Montreal to replace Damian Miller/Paul Bako, Derrek Lee trade to replace Eric Karros/Randall Simon/He Seop Choi, Todd Walker from Boston, Greg Maddux from Atlanta to round out the rotation. Not to mention a healthy Corey Patterson (Having a career year before the injury) and his bat at the top of the lineup. Plus an entire season of Aramis Ramirez at third.

edit: That last paragraph almost brought a tear to my eye :-(

2. The Kings who would be Man.
An entire organization in disarray.

The players have no cohesion, no camradrie, the coach came to them thinking he could just sit and allow 300 million to guide him to immortality. The players lack fundamentals, the stadium exists only to draw millions of dollars, Steve Stone (the man who should be GM) has been citing the Cubs woes for 25 years.

Soriano is Sosa without the 'roids.
Jacque Jones is an Older Corey Patterson.
Zambrano is probably injured or crazy.
Mark DeRosa should never have been signed
Sergo Mitre for the Marlins (who just shut out the Cubs with the wind blowing out) was traded along with 2 other pitchers for Juan Pierre.
Dontrelle Willis could be a Cub. Greg Maddux could still be a Cub, but Maddux was traded for a worse fielding/hitting Ivan DeJesus, named Izturis.
No one in the bullpen can throw strikes.
Felix Pie better get himself traded before the taint of the Cubs destroys him.

The Cubs will never win the Series. Ever. Baseball will end as a sport before the Cubs are champions.
