Poll question: Do you like interleague play?
That's Major League Baseball for the Arena Football fans.

And please tell me why.

1. I wish the Mets and Phils were in the Am Lge. East. I don't care if they ever play the Padres again

15. No - it completely takes away from the fun of the All Star Game
and the World Series.

It also skews the schedules. It used to be that the teams all played identical schedules. Now they are all whacked.

2. No
It's just an excuse to make National Leaguers use the DH instead of playing baseball.

3. I say this every year...interleague play sucks
Edited on Sat Jun-09-07 07:14 AM by MaineDem
And so does the DH rule in my opinion.

The teams are built for whichever league they're in and it's unfair to make them play under the other league's rules a few times a year. And these games count so I think the whole idea is bad.

The All Star Game is made more irrelevant as well as the World Series to some degree.

8. Imagine the AFC and NFC having different rules
- No forward passes in the NFC
- No tackling behind the line of scrimmage in the AFC

4. I'd keep the regional match-ups and limit them to six games a year --
one series in each city. Local rivalries are fun.

5. NO and I don't like
- astroturf
- domed stadiums
- more then two divisions per league
- and most of all GET RID OF THE FREAKING DESIGNATED HITTER RULE. NOW!

Bring back

- more weekday day game businessmen's specials
- more doubleheaders
- alternating home teams in the world series instead of it depending on who wins the worthless all star game.

I think baseball should have one charity weekend where interleague play would occur, games won't count and all ticket receipts go to the charity of the home teams choice. To be played sometime in June or July.

10. And the ratings are huge. Ratings for the Yanks/Sox/Cubs playoffs were off the board...
the networks love it.

And so do I.

Go Sox!

12. I agree with you. And I guess that makes me not a "purist".
But why is ESPN showing another Cubs/Braves game tonight? Those teams are on cable all the frickin' time! Sometimes playing each other at the same time on both TBS and WGN!

16. Excellent point, but on the other hand
I'm a Philly Fan in Mississippi and I appreciate seeing them play several games a year thanks to TBS and WGN. But I would like to know how ESPN makes their decisions about the Cubs and the Braves. Good game tonight, (11 June) on ESPN, Phillies and White Sox. I'm not a fan of interleague play but I like to see my team on occasion.

18. Ummm... ratings?
Atlanta and Chicago have big followings thanks to TBS and WGN. And any New York/L.A. game means more viewing households. It must be about the money.

19. Eastern Seaboard Programming Network
They obviously made a mistake in showing the Braves-Cubs. Neither team is northeastern, that is to say Yankees/Red Sox/ Mets. But they are returning to normal soon. Yankees/Mets on Sunday. Think I'll miss that one.

14. No
I liked how the two leagues wouldn't play until the World Series...I think they should've kept it like that.

20. It was fun at first
I'll concede that there are positive matchups that come as a result of Interleague play. Mets/Yankees, White Sox/Cubs certainly are interesting. But the whole idea doesn't pump me up. I still can't figure out the whole "Natural rival" idea. How does a team like Colorado and Arizona develop a rival. I think it's a bit unfair. My Braves have to play 6 games against Boston, while Florida gets 6 games against lowly Tampa Bay.

I'd tune it back a little. Maybe keep 6 games. I don't like the fact that Atlanta visits Wrigley Field only one time this year. I'd like to see the division winners and wild card determined more by how a team plays within their own league.

I'm more irked by the All-Star game determining home field in the World Series. MLB says that they don't have the time to wait until the LCS are continued. The NBA and NHL seem to be able to wait. I don't think a meaningless exhibition should determine anything that has to do with postseason games. The only reason they implemented the rule was in reaction to the bad publicity MLB got from the infamous tie years ago. I prefer alternating years, a coin toss, or any other means than tying home field to the Midsummer Classic.

Finally, to go back to the main topic, inteleague play doesn't matter much to me. I was satisfied when Interleague play happened in late October. For me, it's just another game in the season.

21. Not particularly, no
On the other hand, if we could see the Twins vs the Raiders
or the Red Wings vs the Bulls...
Now that's the kind of interleague play that I can get behind!
